Hey guys-
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Like I said, I don't harbor any ill-will about JetBlue, since those I came in contact with were all very professional. I do believe they may need to look at their process when it takes them nearly 12 weeks to inform someone they are not going to be put into class. My wife is very pissed, and I'm just wondering what it is about me that they didn't like. Unfortunately, the rest of the Phase II folks and I who haven't gone on to Phase III (or whatever they call it) will most likely never know what kept us from going on. If JetBlue had called a week earlier, my family and I could have taken some more time to pack the house up; instead, we're moving everything this weekend in a rushed manner. I know you can't 100% count on a class date once you're in Phase II, but I had to go on the assumption that a February class date was a distinct reality. As pilots, we're always trying to think ahead, and this was just one thing I was doing to prepare my family and I for a pay cut that would put me into a career flying spot. My wife is from an aviation background and very understanding, but even her patience has worn thin throughout this process.
In the end, this is just another opportunity to pursue a career position elsewhere. My family and I are continuing forward with the huge lifestyle change we knew would need to happen for us to make the move to JetBlue, which now allows me a lot more flexibility. It has been an excellent learning experience, and I really have enjoyed talking with everyone I met at the interview, and especially enjoyed the banter while waiting with you guys here in purgatory! While I really wish I had been given a class date at JetBlue, and given a chance to shine there, I really believe the Almighty has His hand in helping to direct what happens in my life. Looking back, too many things have happened that seem to fit like a puzzle, things that at the time I didn't think twice about. Upon looking back, too much of it is coincidence, so I firmly believe it was not my time to become part of the JetBlue team. My thoughts and prayers are with those who are going on to Phase II, and most especially for those who have received the same news I have. Keep the faith, because good things will happen if you maintain the same vibe you had going through the JetBlue interview process!
I would very much like to stay in touch with you guys, so drop me a PM every now and then to let me know how you are all doing. I certainly appreciate the offer by several of you to look out for potential job opportunities for me - I am currently in NJ, but my family is happy anywhere on the east coast. As long as we're an hour or so from the beach, life is good! We'd be even happier to move farther south. If the job started at $85,000/yr, that wouldn't be so bad, either. Just kidding on the pay, I am just glad you guys care enough to keep your eyes and ears open for me. My flight time is 6,000+ total, with a smattering of jet, heavy turboprop, general aviation, and military single seat jet time.
Again, best of luck to everyone, and if I don't secure a potential career position in 6 months, I may give JetBlue another shot. Like one guy said, maybe UPS will be calling me soon! Or a Fortune 50 flight department with a G550 that flies once or twice a month! LOL
It's been an distinct pleasure talking with you all. I'm signing off this thread, so for the last time:
Go Big Blue, watch out for one another in class, fly safe, and keep the faith!
