OK gang,

For those of you who have been wondering, the official word is to start interviewing in Jan and have interviews every other month throughout the year through Oct.

Hope this helps. As to the numbers, I'm guessing it'll be the same as this year. About 250. Hiring anywhere is always great news in this business.:D

Have you heard of anyone getting a blue dart yet?

Also, how far in advance of an interview are people contacted?

For those who want some help I'll be doing a interview prep seminar in Jan the first weekend in Orlando. Location and final details TBD, along with a new website I hope to have up in 2- 3 weeks. Keep watching this thread for details.

Usually, JB will call one month prior to the interview date. I got a call in Sept for the Oct interview, etc. Since the next interview is going to be in Jan, expect the calls to go out in Dec.

From what I've heard, the darts have started to go out, although I don't know anyone who has used one, or gotten one.
 
Are all the calls out? I heard they would be made sometime in Dec. My buddy is still waiting for a call, hopefully they're still making some for Jan interviews

Dean says 2 classes every month except for Nov/Dec, so that's only 12.5 per class if your estimate is correct. My class had 18 people in it. How much do the classes vary in size?

What are the competetive times for someone w/out an LOR?
 
Here are the "tentative" dates for the 2004 interviews:

January 14th
March 10th
May 12th
July 14th
October 27th

Blue Darts went out to about 10 guys a few weeks ago (met one pilot who got one). More will follow during the course of the year. Over 8000 online applications currently, and more being added weekly. Online application will change a bit sometime next year, so update often and watch for improvements.

Does anyone have any gouge on the Jetblue interview situation questions? I have an interview in March 04 scheduled, Thanks!

Looks like you might be new to this board. Easiest thing to do is a search of this board using specific keywords. There's a ton of gouge out there that has been discussed on different threads and will point you in the correct direction.

The interview is straight from the gouge. Make sure you prep using the situation/task, action, result format. Most guys who aren't making it through the interviews haven't taken the time to find the gouge. Our paperwork included in the interview material even reiterates the desired format. The questions don't change that much. We have certain "dimensions" we look for. Safety, Building Customer Loyalty, etc. in the interview.

If it's your dream, pursue it. Don't let the naysayers convince you otherwise. Who knows what the industry will look like in 2007. Many of those on furlough have found other flying jobs or changed professions. There will be numerous retirements between now and then. Bottom line is, who knows what to expect. If your desire is to become a pilot, go for it. I think you'll be successful any any endeavor if you have the ambition and the drive to succeed.

I heard they made an exception to the 20,000# a/c rule for the jetstream 31/32... was this true and if so is there still an exception?

i agree, nothing in life is certain. i was laid off from a non aviation job after sept 11 and it took me nearly 2 years to find a full time job and many of my friends went through the same thing. i really enjoying flying the only problem is the $$ --of course and paying for the training and owing tons of $ and not being able to pay your bills after , sounds very scary!
 
To answer a couple of questions: Competitive mins vary by quality of experience, but as far as I know there is not a lowering of mins for those with an internal LOR. It just helps separate one 6000 hour person from another (for example).

There is no exemption for J-32's on the 20,000 lb requirement... At least, not that I've heard of.

No and yes. Just be aware that you'll be standing in line a long time for your goals to materialize, if they materialize at all. For many people, they do not materialize.

The people who are in the line ahead of you are the airline pilots who were furloughed as a result of the recession which was further driven by 911, and the others who started before you and are waiting their turns. In addition, the landscape of the industry is changing. It used to be that getting to a regional was a primary objective because you could build your quals for a major. Now, more and more regionals are taking over much of the flying from the majors. That means fewer jobs at the majors and the increased likelihood that the regionals will be the career for many, and fewer openings for new-hires. So, depending on your goals, there may be nothing for you at the end.

Do go for the career, if that's what you want, but beware of the risks. Be ready to work hard for starvation wages. There is no pilot shortage. Be able to do something else if you cannot get anywhere as a pilot.
