I spoke to a few jB pilots a while back and they said they were supposed to start hiring in November.
I can't get on APC.com to find out if they are or not, so I was wondering if any jetBlue guys would like to chime in.
TIA

Rumor Only.

Apparently we have or are renegotiate our contracts with Airbus and Embrear for better deals or "resetting the contracts" so we get year one prices and start the step in prices again as if it were 2000 for Airbuses and 2005 for the E190. If we are successful we will have to take deliveries and the word around the campfire is 10 plus aircraft next year which will be announced sometime in Q2 of 2010 (we are changing from one ccs, open skies, to saber which puts plans on hold until that is done). Also they are planning the need for about 75 E190 FO and 100 to 125 A320 FO dues to rest changes being proposed by the house. So if all this happens about 300 pilots more then likely 170 or so for rest requirements and then 120 or so late 2010. If nothing changes (a/c deliveries or rest rules) then 150-200 2011, 250-300 2012 until about 2016. Hopefully that helps and as I said the numbers and a/c orders are based on IF they get the terms.

Oh and I write on a 3rd grade level and so if not something for work then I do not care enough to proof read it so have fun checking it for me.

LOL! Got your point across, thanks for the update.

No hiring in 2010. Told via email a month or so ago.

As I said Rumor Only,

For what its worth RM at the IROP integrity dinner said that 4 airbuses next year possibly and that he had went down to Brazil just the week before. That was mid- oct. But the official word from the Q3 report no aircraft in 2010. I would prefer that we did not hire or take deliveries because I think that the first half of 2010 is going to be rough and think that we are the right size and are making money because we have very little fat to trim. But if you got an email and are on the hiring committee then you probably know better then I.

What the hell is an IROP integrity dinner. I bet that when 13R/31L closes for 4 months they'll be having those dinners every night. Its going to be the usual cluster at JFK.

Huh?

We ALL got the email. From Verna Kay.

Pretty funny -- we have little fat to trim, but apparently not IROP integrity dinners.

Aren't 330's 2-4-2 in coach?

I just flew on one in Feb -- thought it was 2-5-2. Although that could have been the 777 -- flew half on a 330 half on a 777 for that ride back from the desert.

I think though, that the seating configuration is unimportant. I was really trying to figure out what click was talking about.

There have been rumors lately of 330s (other than the Looftansy ones).

4300 pilots at B6 by 2015. Widebodies going North South. Air cargo ops freight forward out of MIA and JFK for LH. Unfortunately I saw 2012 this week and I BELIEVE that s#it will happen now- so nevermind!
But as we discussed last week, that is the rumor....

ps- Elephants do it FROGGY style

"Oh and I write on a 3rd grade level and so if not something for work then I do not care enough to proof read it so have fun checking it for me."

THAT IS F"N FUNNY THERE UPS!

In recurrent now. 330 rumor is jacked. Froggy style? That's jacked as well.

FWIW, my inside contact called the powers that be wrt to hiring (11/19/09) and he was told no planned hiring in 2010, 1st quarter 2011 at the earliest.

thats what they say now....my feeling on this...we'll hire in '10. We'll take about 10 ships...I'm sure something will come out of the talks down south and over seas.

And I say the 3 center seats should be gray. If it's normally a 4 seat config...screw that. Install slightly wider seats with some decent pitch. At least 33".

Not what they are saying out of recurrent. Talks of bigger iron are rumors that come from someone calling down to the schoolhaus and asking for numbers on a 330 for example to fly X to X. There are always many ideas swirling around in the heads at Forest Hills. Mostly ideas is what we were told.

Close though ... they are trying to renegotiate leases on both fleets. Probably will happen. What they choose to do with the cost savings is another story.

If people don't fly in 2010, we won't grow. IMHO.

I know...but seems like with the new cities we've launched during the slow months...we'll need some more ships to fly this busy season as some pull down is ramped back up on previous markets. Just seems like we won't have enough ya know.

Renegotiation complete.. 4 320's in 2010

330 Rumor cant add anymore credible info on it..

Also heard up to 10 190's in 2010 as well..

10 planes in 2011 and 2012 are firm we have to take them or lose deposits that is of course we have changed that by taking 14 next year..

Lets hope the socialists doesnt tell us how and when we fly

Hopefully this is true! Has the company made this public yet ? I did hear they were trying to secure alternate financing from Embraer/Airbus and if so they would resume 2010 A/C deliveries....

Hopefully new aircraft results in net growth of the fleet. We could eithe get better terms on new aircraft and return others to the leasor or sell older aircraft.

I talked to JFK Chief yesterday...

No details on aircraft next year but we're getting some...he didn't have numbers or types.

According to current orders and options, our fleet size will double by 2014. Therefore, anyone hired this year could be a Captain by then.

Dave Barger told him, "He would not be surprised if JetBlue was flying widebodies to South America someday." Whatever that means...

To bad 200 pilots organizing an ALPA rally will kill the growth and force JetBlue to scale back the plans they had for the entire company.

How many planes were we "supposed" to have today according to the grand plans and how many do we have?

Untill it sits on the ramp, in our colours and we are getting a paycheck to fly it, then it is just another pipe dream. Do remember though, we have no scope language, hence anyone could fly them in our colours.

As for Splert, I cannot figure out if you are being sarcastic or not?

This rat isn't swimming and I would not put it past the company to float new aircraft rumors and for the BoBs to use this line of spin when the new aircraft don't appear after ALPA starts its formal effort.
