JetBlue Enters SWA Territory :uzi:
"JetBlue announced new service between BUR and LAS, representing the airline’s first attempt at directly competing with Southwest on a route that we serve. The single flight begins on June 30. We offer 13 daily flights between BUR and LAS. In addition, JetBlue will add flights between Long Beach, Calif., and SMF, as well as BUR and MCO."
 
They started into ATL a few years back but didn't make it. Big D flooded their markets with seats. Only lasted 6 months or so.

Actually it was Air Tran that leased the planes from Ryan which made JB look at other options.

If "Big D" was the reason for the pull out, why is JB still flying routes against Song?

USAirways is the airline that pulls flights or down sizes (puts an RJ on a competative) the route giving the new airline on the route a nice start.

Yeah... what he said. It was AirTran not Big D! That pullout from Atlanta says alot about this management team. It tells me they know EXACTLY what will make them money, and if it doesn't work out as planned, they are smart enough to cut bait and move the planes someplace where they can make money.
 
I wouldn't get all excited. This is just a "dip your toe in the water" exercize for loyal customers flying out of Burbank. WN flyers like the frequency on the route, and aren't going to switch to B6 on such a short flt. Now if B6 fills up the plane and you begin to see some defections, then this could be an interesting subject. I don't see that happening until more frequency is added.
 
Jetblue will do well there... people will choose a long ride with built-in entertainment versus a bare-bones 737-700 any day.

Yeah, I'm sure on that grueling 50 min flight the lack of IFE will be really missed. FYI, the complete cliche also always cites no assigned seating as the reason for SWA's imminent shelacking in <insert market here> :rolleyes:
 
JB hasn't been enjoying EWR...pulling their TPA flights. Got ousted of ATL. Like to see them try CLT or IAH next.

I didn't say they (Bid D) did well in the aftermath. :p But, I figured it was tough starting in a market like ATL with Delta and Air Tran already all over the place.

No, but you implied it. Or you implied that Delta won some war (how stupid does that sound in the big scheme of things anyway?). "Flooding the market" just did not work out for them (at least in the short term, considering their bankruptcy -- if they come out of bk strong, then defending "their" turf could be seen as a good decision).

As for SWA: here's my prediction ... our one flight a day is gonna slowly erode Southwest support all over the universe.

I think History shows the B6 ATL-JFK flights were in response to Song and the then sudden interest in JFK with the green note "treblecleff" thingy. A sort of "all righty then.." :bomb:

There never was an ATL-JFK, another B6 expert?:erm:
 
I know BUR has been very profitable for us. We have been trying to get more space more gates in BUR for more transcons and other cities. I wouldn't be suprised if this flight turns out to be a place holder for the airport until another city is announced and we connect BUR with it.
 
How many gates you guys have there?
 
Sounds like a perfect route for the E190 to test the waters (lower break even costs)... If the loads materialize then upgrade to a Bus... I wonder if JetBlue can station some E190s out on the West Coast.

Well excuse the heck out of me I stand corrected! thank you so much Mr 8r. I was thinking LGB and did indeed say JFK. I am sure I spelled "treblecleff" wrong too and you have never missed a radio call !:rolleyes:

Hey Elag,

Lighten up. There was no malice intended in my post, that is why it ends in a question mark. However, I do get tired of every swinging Richard on this board taking a potshot at B6 every chance they get. I consider myself a professional avaitor and have been flying 26 years and have seen it all in my career. I am not perfect, and have never claimed to be perfect. But, I check my facts for what it's worth. Best of luck in your career....:beer:
