Haven't seen anyone else post it, so I will mention the news--calls are going out for 14 July interviews at Jetblue. Don't know if they are doing phone screens or not, but several folks have apparently gotten interview dates.

Several calls have gone out for FedEx interviews, too. So...hang tough, good news is out there, even if it is in small doses.

In any case--this likely isn't the week to not answer your phone! Good luck everyone!

Captain friend here got the phone interview this morning and the call for the interview by this afternoon. So they appear to be doing both. He is going to be in the July 14 interview class.

Make sure you answer the phone or you'll get something like this:

Dear X...
Thank you for your interest in the Pilot position at JetBlue...and for spending time on the telephone with one of our recruitment representatives.
Unfortunately, you were not selected.....

I know better, that's the letter I got.
Good luck!

Is it fact or urban legend that you have to keep your availability date forward of the present date in order to keep your application current in the mysterious JB computer.....ie an application with an availability date of May 04 would no longer be good??

Thanks

Unless there's been a recent change, this statement is true. The computer will not recognize an application with an availability date in the past (don't ask me why, I have no idea). So applicants should update their online applications regularly, and with an available date at least one month ahead of the current month.

Hope this helps, and good luck to all.

One of my buddies got the call and interviewed in March and he has no idea why he got called. He said he didn't update his on line app for over a year. So take it for what its worth...... who the he!! knows why and how any of these airlines do what they do!!!!!

Same thing happened to my bud!! JB called him about a week after his 20 month swim in the FedEx pool ended. He said he hadn't updated his app in about a year. The workings of W.O.P.R. are strange indeed.....

Your kidding me!!! You're saying that because your answering machine picked up the phone, you were not selected at all???

If you get the pre-interview phone screen, make sure your next call is to AlbieF15 for some interview prep. His success numbers w/JetBlue candidates are staggering. Check him out at:

Good luck to all who get the phone call.

I would like to also plug AlbieF-15.
If you have an intereview for JetBlue, SWA, or Fedex coming up he offers an excellent product.
Also if you think you are going to get the JetBlue phone pre-screen call anytime soon-I would call him asap-same type of questions as the interview.

These cities (that I cut out to save space) are the same ones that were on the original list of 45-50 markets when we first started operations. They are no secret or in no particular order. The total markets that were listed in a recent internal meeting numbered over 900. The EMB190, when it arrives, will no doubt open up a lot of those for us.

I think Cancun is gonna be next. Late summertime would be my guess.

For you people that have been getting Jet Blue calls...

Do you have a recommendation from a Jet Blue pilot?

I've been updating my stuff with them for a long time now, but I dont have the on-line recommendation from a current pilot (I dont know anyone at JBLU).

Has anyone gotten a call without a recommendation?

Thanks!

Blue Sombrero's w/ blue chips?

With PPV of the 3-Amigo's movie in back.

Ole'! That was a good rte JFK-CUN for TWA, surprised nobody has jumped on it sooner.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of board regulars getting the call this time. JointOps, DGS...are you guys done pulling names for the 14 July show?

Board seems awfully quiet considering 60 or so folks will be interviewing in just a couple weeks. In the old days...back before this place became "you s*ck!" no "you S*ck!" a lot of good info passed on these posts. With SWA, FedEx, and JB interviewing next month I hope we see some more info being shared.

Just my 2 cents...

I too find it odd. Perhaps the stakes are getting so high that people are afraid to reach out. That is sad, as this place is a good resource. I learned a tremendous amount from board regulars back when I was looking from the outside-in. I now feel a strong committment to give back to those who are now in the same shoes I was a year ago. Too bad the board is so quiet.

I agree with Albie on his comments.

The tone of this board has become so negative that I personally only come here to look for news. I don't find that it is even worth my time to read the threads that are longer than 5 or 6 posts because I can assume that they have already degraded to inter-company or personal bashing threads. My ignore list has 10 people in it.

In MY OPINION (take it or leave it) this board needs to be moderated by a few folks that care about the content and information that is posted here. This free for all has gone too far.

I personally think that folks on this board are getting called. They are just not going to subject themselves to being associated with this forum when they have been identified for an interview. Primarily because nothing good can come from posting your information here any longer.

propjob,

Don't sweat not having an "inside" recommendation. That's never been our policy in the hiring process.

Albie,

Sorry to tell you this, but the only names I'm considering for 14 July are baby names for our incoming delivery. I'm about 2 weeks from my due date and haven't flown in a bit. When Dean and I e-mail/talk he just wants to know when this little one is due. However, at this point, all candidates should know who they are.

The other possibilities about the board: Folks are using the search engine first before posting. The gouge out there for our interviews hasn't changed much since our process is relatively the same. If folks do have buddies at the company, they're probably using them for the gouge as well.

If I do know anything, of course I'll post it!

Proposed Names for JointOps' Baby...

there are several excellent choices out there:

(ah-hem...clears throat dramatically...)

Samuel

Aaron

David

Donald

to name a few...Oh, wait, female names too!

Susan

Caroline

Emily

Best of luck JointOps! Remember, sleep deprivation is actually a prime torture strategy in several developing countries. :)

Flipper,

Rick knows the sex of the baby and I don't. So he confuses the issue by adding more names daily. AKAAB sent me a pm and suggested Lanny. I almost choked on my orange juice when I read that one.

Hope the flying is going great. Looks like Lee is spending tons of time in the high life. Spent a week at Cannes for the film festival. His Dad keeps us pretty entertained on the block with Lee's travel stories.

Samuel, hmmm. Figures!

Happy landings,

Well...there is some of the nicest news I've seen on the board in a while. God bless you both! (and the hubby too!)

I'm also partial to Flipper's list :) ! As a daddy to 3 girls, I can tell you all I've ever accomplished pales in comparision to what my wife and I created together. I wish you both all the joy that comes with the newest family member!

Albie

Another fighter pilot with all girls! I guess there is some truth about the mutually exclusive relationship between high-Gs and baby boys. :D

Thanks Albie!

And in your defense (wrt Speedbird's comments): They say parents make boys but lovers make the girls. So there.

This definitely beats the "you're a jerk", "no, you're more of a jerk" posts anyway.

Happy landings gang!

Last time I checked the US press corps is pushing to make sleep deprivation a war crime. The atrocities at Abu whatever-the-heck centered mostly around sleep deprivation. Can I have my children brought up on war crimes?
