I don't understand how these Jet Blue pilots have the nerve to defend these horrible pay rates. How can you condone what management has done at Jet Blue? Don't worry, I have NO intention of applying at Jet Blue (nor did I ever intend to apply there).

for Herk

I am sure they will be glad to hear that

Fr all those who feel this rate is too low, do not apply, that will show them. There is a good chance those who do apply will be making way more at JB in three years than they would at one of places with those great 50 seat rates.
The point, pilotyip, is that those horrendous 100 seat rates (if left unchecked) are going to be used against us at the more established regionals where we are flying 50 seat jets for basically the same rate. It has nothing to do with whether or not one wants to go to jetBlue (I personally don't), but I do have a problem with management at our respective regionals now being able to pressure US to take concessions just because a rogue non-union company such as jetBlue has "set the standard" by accepting the same pay rates for a jet with twice the seats.

Hopefully these rates will not be the reality when these airframes actually come on property at jetBlue.

$75K first year

How is $75K the first year a bad wage?, I will bet in three years that will be close to $100K. Is that bad compared to a ALPA union Captain on a MD-80 carrying 150+ pax with five years making $100K/yr?

Now, I wasn't born with a silver golf club up my but t, so I think 74k third year pay ain't all that bad for JB pilots. That's better than most Corp gigs I have seen. Is there any balance here at all? How about work rules, domiciles, schedules?? anybody got any of that info?

My take on this VERY unstable industry of ours is: "Which would you rather have, a little less pay for the long haul, or more pay for the short haul?" Seems to me that JB will be with us for the long haul.....??...., but who knows.

also, what are 4th, 5th, even 6th year pay on those things? please post if you find out.
Thanks
I gotta say, this is one of the more intelligent posts on this thread. At least blzr seems to have a clue....

Yes the pay is low. Still higher than any other "major" carrier first year pay.
Over time is time and a half past 70 hours. Easy to get 85 hours and 15-16 days off.

Quality of life is something too. Do you want to work for a management that you can trust or not. I trust Dave and David to do the right thing every time. You probably will not believe or understand that unless you experience it for yourself.

Do we want a union here??? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! If you have to ask why, then you have not got the experience to understand it. A union is not going to instantly get you more pay. Think back to the 16 year contract that ALPA so graciously got for Eagle a few years back. Some representation that was.

WyoHerkdriver you probably would not like it here anyways, so I guess it is good that you are not going to apply. And let me see, what has management done here. Created a very positive work place where we are hiring 20-30 guys a month. Taking on aircraft. Not furloughing. Giving out profit sharing. making a profit in this current environment... shall I go on?

Well, just my two cents worth. Still one of the greatest places to work. Of course I am just a blue Kool aid drinking, low paid, driving the industry into the dumpster, pilot. What do I know....

Though JB is non-union, I think it would only be a matter of time before ALPA sees the long-term benefits of incorporating new lower payscales for larger "small jets" owned by their respective Mainline carriers...
Talk about trying to stuff the genie back into the bottle!
