Had a U Captain in the jumpseat a few weeks back. He brought up an interesting, yet very obvious, point:

Why the he!! are any of us taking concessions and crappy contracts while EVERY carrier is still in a fare war, trying to provide coast-to-coast tickets for Greyhound fare?

Re-regulation, anyone?

"SKYW, agreed to fly jets up to 99 seats for the same rates they had for 50-seat jets. That was brilliant. They got a UAL agreement that they would have gotten anyway. So far the only reward they seem to have reaped, is a potential bunch of UAL pilots on their list. Pilots that will be paid more than regular SKYW pilots for the same job and who knows what else that we haven't learned yet. The SKYW pilots (writing in these forums) claim that they are not giving up any seniority. Really? How is that possible when pilots from another airline will be sitting in 70-seat jets, while SKYW pilots are still flying Brasilias? Stange view of seniority in Utah."

Just to clear things up.....................Nothing has been agreed to between UAL/UALPA and SKYW. The agreement thus far is btween UAL and UALPA. Consolidate your defecation before you pontificate.

AF
:)

P.S. I'm not happy about this by any stretch, but it ain't in stone, yet. Also, I know you used the word 'potential' in your post, but I just wanted to keep the record straight.

Isn't Mesa the ONLY airline that has settled a new contract POST September 11, 2001 that doesn't include concessions?

you forgot to add that most of those concessionary contracts have more days off, better pay, and better workrules than the one you supposedly "improved" on.

If Mesa's Contract is SOOOO bad...

Then aren't you glad you work at a better shop? Don't worry about what's going on at Mesa...worry about yourself and your contract.

You'll never keep up with the Jones.....best advice...worry about yourself and your family. You'll live longer.

ARE YOU FU$KING KIDDING ME! YOU CALL THAT A CONTRACT. 8 days off off rsv and 10 for line holders.
WHAT A JOKE.
AND SEGMENT PAY!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR STUPID!!!!!!!!!

I find it interesting that everyone focuses on the MINIMUM days off they were granted. I have spoken to several Mesa guys and gals and apart from the reserve folks, days off average around 12-13. Not the best by any means but certainly not what some of you are portraying it to be.

SLC

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Mesa's contract contain 13 bid periods instead of the "standard" 12? So 10 days off per bid period translates to 130 days off per year. I don't know how this compares to anyone else's minimm time off per year breakdown.

Sympathies to the Colgan family.

Yeah, I wish I was as insightful as you all think you are during
my first year in the industry. I certainly wasn't as pompous as you all seem.

Its called capitalism you bunch of communist b@stards! Its what America was founded on and its what makes America great. But some of you wouldn't know since most of you slept during history and economics class. Most of you loudmouths are very new and inexperienced in this industry. Some of you are military, and definitely know nothing about civilian aviation. Some of you were flight instructing just 6-12 months ago, and think because you suddenly become a commuter FO you've got it all figured out. Your ignorant, arrogant posts prove otherwise. What suddenly make you think you are qualified to comment on a company you don't even work for.

Its coming up election time...why don't you all go vote for the communist party nominee... after all thats the ideology you all are clamoring for.

Yeah, I wish I was as insightful as you all think you are during

You are so right!! it is childish, Oh wait, these are your comments and INSULTS right?? You did post those statements right?? I thought so. Now like I said, you need to calm the f.u.c.k down and chill. I did not attack you nor did anyone state anything about your not having an opinion, that's your own guilt or insecurity. Never the less and I again state "it ain't that serious!!!

11 days off per bid for lineholders. 13 bids per year. roughly 12 days off per month.

segment pay was something we could not improve upon. If we had voted the contract out we would have been replaced by Freedom. You can thank our freedom pilots for that.

jetdriven,

you're still mad at the F8 folks? their numbers are pretty small at that place. are you flying the Beech for ZV? if you are, you've got a great shot of upgrading to a jet with them.
