(mods, this is aviation-related b/c i will be in flight-training and i need the internet to access this website!)

i'm moving down to the Daytona area soon, and I will need to get an internet service provider. what do you guys use, and typically how much is it per month? Is DSL really that much better than dial-up? i have cable now at home with my parents through time-warner cable, and we had a T1 line at school, but i have a feeling those are going to be a bit out of my budget. any hlep would be much appreciated.

Yes, DSL is THAT much better than dial up. It's almost a life changing experience. Once you have DSL you will HATE to hook up via dial up in a hotel to check your e-mail. Cable is good too, and often cheaper than DSL if you use the cable TV.

Hey,

i live in the daytona beach area, and Brighthouse cable offers a good deal. it is $55 for cable internet and $45 for tv. BUT if you combine those 2, they have a $105 digital/HD combo which gives over 200 channels, and 15 HD channels. They have easy bill pay options too

hmmm, $105 might be a bit steep. i might just have basic cable and get earthlink DSL or something. for the brighthouse cable deal, do you HAVE to get digital/HD cable or can i get a more basic cable w/ internet for cheaper than $105?

I get mine wireless here from someone else in my apartment complex, when I was in Daytona I had Brighthouse, the cheapest they had with the cable.

flechas, do you have an agreement with this person in your apartment complext or are you.... borrowing his bandwith without his permission? :D

also, do you remember if you paid less than $105 for the brighthouse?

No agreement, he doesn't have a secure conection, which means I'm more than welcome to use it.

It was 105 if I wanted the cool channels, HBO, CMAX, SHTM, but if you only wanted basic cable it was less. Also I had two roomates in my house, which I highly recomend you do, but make sure you get along.

yeah, roommates will come at a later date, when i actually meet people. i'm gonna try to get a 1 room apt. on a 6 month lease, then hopefully i'll have met people and can move it with them. i'm a bit anxious to have to start over again.
