Trying to start a flight ops for a manufacturing company that travels frequently to Europe from the midwest. Does anybody have any suggestions as to which aircraft to purchase or lease? Need something with the range, is economical, fairly simple a/c systems, nice for pax, etc... Need help.

Andrew

That's quite a tall order. Care to be a bit more specific? Where to where? Midwest to Europe could be a wide range of distances. How many pax? Simple a/c systems compared to what? I don't think you'll ever find a bizjet capable of those trips with "simple" systems. What is considered economical? How many hours per year usage? What is the companys price range? You have to be a bit more specific if you want realistic answers.

huh?

Do citations go from KORD-KTEB nonstop?..pull up short in KABE maybe?

Chicago-France, 6 people, summer winds...humm....

You need a GV or a Global Express. Anything smaller would be VERY uncomfy for 6 frequent Europe travelers.

(42-50 mil.)

economical? Business Class on United Airlines is economical with 14+ days notice.

simple a/c systems?...humm....why? - thinking about working on it if it breaks?

This isn't one of those "Im an ERAU student writing a paper on corp aviation economics"...is it?

A citation....I love it!

KORD -> France & U.K. Up to 6 Pax...

Would a Citation V make it there non stop?
Uh....sure...if you outfit it with aerial refueling capabilities and convince the military to have tankers waiting for you in two or three locations over the Atlantic.

You're talking a 3500nm trip. Gulfstream IV or V, Global Express, BBJ, or possibly a Falcon 900 would be about it.

many buy outright, set up dummy companies, (possibly lease them back to themselves)...run the depreciation and warranties off them, and start over.

or a similar version to this.

they never let me buy them, got a hard enough time flying them....

How many medium sized corporations do you see flying internationally and make the books work? Do you think most of these guys are having smaller bizjets to transport them around the country as well as take them to larger airports and get airline service to international destinations?

depends how often you go Intl'

A few times a year and just to London? Got news for you, First Class Sleeper on Virgin is more comfy than even a GV/GLEX - and its only 5K or so round trip last minute. 5K will be about your catering bill for 6 round trip on your own jet.

but...go overseas 2-3X a week to Asia,East Europe,etc..(my employer)....yup, you need to buy.

There are also wealthy individuals who fly in thier GV from NY-Florida. Can they do this in a 2mil citation? yeah. but they dont..

Basically you are asking an unanswerable and unrealistic question. Sorry.

Ask a question and be a fool for five minutes...never ask the question and be a fool for a lifetime. I don't mind looking like a fool for five minutes:o

Thanks for the help.

In additon to the cost of the aircraft don't forget that in Europe that both pilots have to be typed in that aircraft and have to had formal training in the last 12 months. Both pilots must have current 1st class medicals.

NEGATIVE on the 1st class medicals to Europe.

Brazil is the place Im aware of.

Maybe you should just call one of the fractional companies and get them to run the numbers for you. Maybe that is the way to go, because based on your listed experience level and the questions you have asked, I doubt that you need to be piloting anything from ORD to CDG.

Sleepy, how else is a person supposed to learn?? That's why there is flight safety. I don't think that it is fair that you limit me because of my TT. I know i am inexperienced, but aren't we all??? Thought that this forum was to help build people up, not knock them down. :( Thanks for your input though.

Andrew relax man.

You just came around and asked some off the wall crazy questions. You want an economical plane (a citation!) to purchase and fly 6 folks from Chicago-Paris and you have 475 hours TT.

Its great thinking and all, but a little off the wall.

Sorry man, if this forum beats you up, the controllers into Le Bourget will leave you crying!!

flashbacks, flashbacks........citationkid......or the "skybar" kid.....flashbacks...

(haha kidding)

Actually the ECAC Countries are starting to enforce the 1st Class Medical in Europe too, so I've been told... I think we are about to go back to medicals every 6 months...
