2X's furloughed ual 10000+ hrs, 6000+ turbine, and I don't meet the quals AWAC is looking for, I guess over qualified.

Blue, you seem like a smart guy and the regional management dbags don't want people like you. AWAC, RAH, SKYW, XJT, PNCL etc all want the 19 year old kid to fly the new metal because they will see the job as a stepping stone and still think that they can make it to a major. If the new guys see it as a stepping stone its better for the management guys to ensure lower wages and pay cuts to "stay competitive". Do yourself a favor and get a job that pays real money. Keep in mind the wages in this article. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/metro/salaries/

good luck!

Sorry to hear that bluefin. It's really sad if they're shorting your opportunities based on a UAL recall. What HR does these days blows my mind. IMHO they have stepped too far into the hiring of pilots. If I were the part of hiring at an airline I would consider your experience a blessing on any organization...even if it was for a short time. Unfortunately, the shortsightedness of the bean counters determines the fate of many. It's sad really, because they should at least give you an interview.

Yeah quite a few of us got the "thanks but no thanks" letters. Good luck to anyone that have what they are looking for. Happy Holidays all!

Unfortunatly thats not how it is I'm 22 and got the rejection letter granted I only have a few hundred hours, but still God only knows who they're looking for.

This message is hidden because CX880 is a gay jets ****************************** bag.

Then why is the app window open and accepting for Jan. 2010 interviews? Anyway wouldn't go there, just applied to keep getting unemployment checks. Its more than the first year pay!!!!

Well if you worked there you should be happy to know they're not hiring considering they have people on furlough!!!

Well, pal, I do work there. We just recalled 8, which leaves 14 still on furlough. Several of these have to accept the next round of recalls or they are SOL. This application window is most likely in preparation for the regs changes coming down from Washington next year.

Is it possible that nothing will come of it? Sure, since nothing is etched in stone in this god-forsaken industry. But the fact remains that we have been operating understaffed for going on 2 years (or more, depending on who you ask), and with the changes in flight and duty times coming from the feds, AWAC is simply getting ready for the inevitable.

To you guys who are getting the 'No Thanks' letters, I wish I new what to tell you. The logic (or lack of it) concerning hiring over the last 4-5 years here is inexplicable. You'd think they'd want the experience, but it seems our HR dept. is stuck in 2004, and will only consider those with ATP or ATP mins, at best. Keep trying, maybe pestering them might be the best solution. It can't hurt at this point.

And CX, since we all know YOU don't work here, maybe you should stop speculating on something you obviously know nothing about.

Tool.

Peace.

Rekks

I know the job market is dry but look into the guard units they have some hiring to do still. If you are interested look at wantscheck.com or baseops.com. It will be a good shoe in for a young guy if you want to earn money and possibly bypass the regional world.

What happened with the marine CROPS??? Did they not accept you because you couldn't spell last year?

I've got a case of Sam Adams that says your grandmother thinks you are a do uchebag too.

So, you want AWAC to hire you with 10,000 hours, so they can spend 35+ thousand to train and hire you so that you are out the door the minute the big boys are hiring again. I don't know what AWAC wants in terms of mins, but my guess is they are looking for around 2000 hours with only regional time, and no PIC time, because as with everything else they do, they will be looking at ROI in the people they hire.

They are probably holding out for all the Mesa furloughs. Pilots with experience but don't have a major to go back to. We didn't like furloughed pilots at Continental Express, that's what it was called back then, either since we knew the guy would be gone as soon as recall, and that was when pilots were in charge of hiring. But being furloughed from UAL, AA, or US, I would think that any company would get many years out of those pilots.

you never know why any company(airline or other) rejects you. Go and live in the real world, and apply for business type jobs. See how many f#$@ offs you receive. The bottom line is, pilots are a dime a dozen rite now. Who knows what AWAC, or any company is looking for. They have all the power. If they don't want people with tons of experience, then they don't have to take them. If they want "kids" with no experience, that will work for peanuts, then thats what they will hire. If you want to work in aviation, dont feel as if you are anything special because of your resume. Dont get your feelings hurt. Anyway, with that amount of time, do you really want to work at a regional. You could make the same cash doing anything e.g.fry cook at dennys, bar tender, etc, and at least you would be home every night.

You have no damn right even applying.

Not true. He probably at least has a college degree. I know plenty of pilots at regionals that have no college degree, and got their start at 19-21 yrs old outta high school, with just a couple hundred hours of flight time.

Some Gulfstreamers started at 19, upgraded at Pinnacle at 23, and were at Airtran/SWA/Delta in their mid-20s.

Oops, honestly, I didn't even realize. I clicked on a guy's name to find more posts, and then found this thread. I didn't even see the date. Looking back, the guy I looked at doesn't post much, and this thread had one of his posts here.

Sorry!
