You, or your union, demanded a wage & benefit package that the company could never sustain. DL was already hemorraghing money before your contract was even signed. Your contract was based on a temporary bubble and had no grounding in reality.

.
DALPA demanded a wage and benefit package that the company could never sustain and the company just bent over? Please give us a break. The contract was bargained for, supposedly, in good faith by both parties. I'll ask you this. Why were the previous two contracts negotiated between DALPA and DAL concessionary? Did DALPA decide to just not DEMAND a better wage and benefit package, as you seem to believe occurred in 2000? And how much money was DAL making during the concessionary contract periods prior to 2000?

Since you also seem to be a student of economic cycles ("Your contract was based on a Temporary bubble and had no grounding in reality.") perhaps you could tell us when this cycle will end?

So, with all of the finacial mess in the last 4-5 years, how about assigning blame to the Comair strike and the $1 billion in losses occured? Sure, it wasn't your fault--rather Leo's---but the losses didn't help our overall situation. I give it 6% of the blame. (this blame game is fun! ??????)

Bye Bye--General Lee
Sorry General, the CMR strike can't be blamed for the losses. CMR is a SEPARATE company right? If you don't believe me, just ask your MEC. They say it is a SEPARATE company. How can a SEPARATE company be blamed for "$1 billion in losses"?

General,

Yes the Delta Pilots did pay to help the Comair Pilots, but lets also remember that they also flew 757's where they had flown MD88's to Comair cities, and 767's where they had flown 757's. The bottom line is both side have played "scr$w your buddy" from day one. You guys need to focus on the problem, like the current and past piss poor senior managment. Not only at the helm but on the board.

Surplus1,

I was just making fun of the stupid % blame game Medflyer is playing. You need to relax! I really don't know the full numbers--although I have heard it cost the corporation $1 billion. Yes, our Dalpa contributions helped you guys a lot no doubt--unlike your NONEXISTANT help to our furloughs. There is a difference between "some help" and NO HELP.

Bye Bye--General Lee

General, we are relaxed. It isn't our retirement that is on the chopping block. The CMR pilots will reciprocate the same help you gave to them. If you go on strike, I'm sure the CMR pilots will pay their assesments and some will give to the DAL pilot's fund. After all, that is what you did for them. They probably will not however give you special treatment if that is what you are asking for.

GL hit the nail on the head. Some effort on the ALPA membership is considered support. Sounds like Comair's MEC wanted it for a price...
On Your Six,
If the DAL pilots go on stike, I'm sure the CMR pilots will reciprocate the same thing. The CMR pilots will pay their assesment and some will donate to the DAL pilot fund. If you want to be treated "special", you will have to treat the ASA and CMR pilot's differently. Sorry, but that is business.

Inclusivescope,

I, too, am relaxed. I have time to recover. But, many many senior pilots may decide that their lump sums are too important. What happens with that remains to be seen. Delta will not just fold up and leave town. If there isn't a settlement, then the court will do it and that will affect you and me. I can see why DCI pilots want us to capitulate, and there are many reasons I hope we do come to a successful agreement that leads us out of this mire. But, there isn't much I can do about it myself, and watching this will prove interesting. We will get a pay cut---and around 30% (+/-) will happen in or out of court. You guys will also likely get a pay cut in court---if we go there. I hope we don't, but I can't predict the future any better than you can. We shall see........

Bye Bye--General Lee

Chapter 11 looks more and more inevitable - and if it happens, all labor groups will be contributing to the pot... I hope Leo is enjoying Cape Cod!!!!!!
