I actually enjoy instructing, charge a premium for my services and experience. I truly believe that instructing should be done because one WANTS to teach.

As you should. It's just absolutely amazing how good pay and QOL can make good/great instructors WANT to stay.

If I could make more $ with a better lifestyle flying SPIFR freight or as a regional FO, that's what I'd love doing. Would I still enjoy being a CFI? Absolutely...I love it. In the end, love of a career doesn't put food on the table. That stuff adds to stress and stress reduces your ability to do a good job. Not a good scenario in flight instruction.

So...you should absolutely want to instruct, and you should be compensated appropriately for it.
