Legacy was at odd altitude as instructed by ATC. They are trying to say the pilots should have climbed to 360 when they lost comm. I feel for those guys, not a nice place to be in jail

I'm not sure that they actually lost comm. Often the controllers down there just stop answering the radio. Brasil is a third world country where aviation is concerned. The controllers are never held responsible for their unprofessional behavior and the graft and corruption are rampant. The pilots from Brasil would not be held in jail if they were in the US either. This prosecution of pilots is strictly a problem experienced in third world jungles.uke:

Spend much time in Brazil? I suggest mid February in Rio or a trip to Florianopolis in December/January (summer down there). If you are single, you will not want to come back. I guarantee it.
