I'm just curious, how many of us Blueridgers are going to other regionals? Personally, I can't stomach $19/hr, bottom of another seniority list, commuting to another $#ithole, being on reserve and going through 3 months of training w/o pay and being away from family, and upgrades are practically nonexistant. I remember non-reving/jumpseating on Delta was a joke...planes were always overbooked. Also, everyone seems to be having contract problems...anyone getting out of the game?

To all the ACAI pilots I just wanted to say best wishes to you guys. I hope things work out. As I've flown with many of you when I was a flight attendant for the 3 years I was there. You guys are awesome! God Bless All!

I'm out. Time for livable wages, home every night, not spending Christmas and New Years on the road. I was a career changer, so it's back to my old gig. It was fun while it lasted.

I had already taken the voluntary furlough when it was offered - don't plan on coming back to the airline industry.

Best of luck to my former roommate Blueridgers and the great guys I met while working on the ramp at IAD and ORD. I know at least one of my ex-roomies is planning on getting out, after seeing his fourth furlough.

For those that are wondering what's left and want to bail... If you're under 30, I strongly urge you to consider going to one of those ATC schools and become an ATC'er. There are community college programs in Beaver County, PA (PIT); Miami, FL; and suburban Los Angeles. At the school I'm attending, my flight time and my prior bacherlor's degree allow me to complete my ATC civillian program in 18 credit hours. Who knows when friggin OK City is going to call. Total out of state tuition is around $180/cr.

Good Luck fellas. Anyone with a citation type rating and PIC time PM me if interested in a 91/135 captain position.

Best of luck guys. Lots of friends there and they are putting up their safety nets, if they have one. Nobody should ever have to go through that, we work to hard.

That sucks! I did not know Indy Air was doing that bad. Wow! Good luck to all. Apply to ASA, we are hiring. PM me if you need info.

You really don't know why Indy Air was doing so bad?
1. They are flying RJ's on routes that airlines with bigger more comfortable airplanes and they are the same price as most of those airlines with more comfortable airplanes.

2 They have not marketed their product very well. They deceided to not market themselves on the internet. (Cheaptickest.com, Expedia, Priceline for example)

I am not an airline pilot so therefore I see this like any other passenger buying a ticket. I have no good reason to buy a ticket on them. What do they have to offer that the others do not?

I do not wish anything bad about the company as I have friends that work there also, but it seems like to me the whole business plan is flawed.

Your insight is amazing. I bet no one has though of any of this. Thanks for pointing it out to the folks who are going to be losing their jobs. I bet it makes things a lot easier.

Great!! Now when air willy let's me go, I'm gonna have to fight for a job against 500 more CRJ FO's.

Good Luck!

I know it probably won't make any of you feel any better, but ASA does pay during training. 75hr guarantee paycheck plus a single occupancy hotel room.

Pretty much all the other negatives you listed above still apply though. :(

Best of luck to everyone involved.

FWIW, a friend of mine was furloughed from Indy 1 Jan. When he found out about it in October he started beating the bushes and was offered jobs from ASA and SKW with class dates in early Jan. He got the SKW interview by showing up at one of their open houses. He was offered an interview on the spot. He chose SKW because of domiciles.

There were a few ACA guys/gals that went to ACA during the CMR strike. There were part of the 86 pilots that were fired/furloughed during the strike. If anybody knows someone that fits that description and they are interested in working at CMR, PM me and I'll do what I can.

In general, CMR has been very receptive to hiring Blueridgers. I don't know how many former Dornier pilots we have here at CMR, but it must be quite a few. I've personally flown with 6 or 8 in the past year. Good luck to all.

Beat the rush...

A lot of opportunities will be determined by what happens to USAirways in the coming months. Unfortunately, if USAirways tanks, more regional pilots could be impacted at CHQ, Mesa, PSA, PDT/ALG and MDA. I'd suggest the Indy guys get their resumes out to ASA, Skywest, Mesaba, Pinnacle and Coex sooner than later. At the same time, AWA is hiring with no PIC requirement and USAirways potential downfall could cause other carriers like AirTran and JetBlue to increase hiring.

I know that AWAC could not find enough qualified aplicants to fill its Jan class. If you are really desperate its worth a try. unfortunatly you may get furloughed here too. We have not heard anything yet. But its never good when skywest starts buying 25 50 seaters with no anouncements of new contracts.
good luck indy

"But its never good when skywest starts buying 25 50 seaters with no anouncements of new contracts"

that's a new one. where did you hear that? we've purchase four 50's from flyI, but the rest of the deliveries are going to be 70's we've had on order for about a year and a half.

To all blueridgers...good luck with your job search, and though we are non-union, SkyW is a good company to work for at this time and I'm sure Camielle would welcome all o ya'll.

Hello,

Best of luck to all "Blue Ridge" pilots, and thanks for the jumpseat rides in the past.

To what DOH will a furlough that size affect? Did that make sense?

I was wondering the same thing, and the answer is right there in the thread's first post.

What I don't understand is the statement that "pilots that are currently captains will be furloughed". The math on this one is fuzzy, but I'll try:

The thread begins with 500 new furloughs, in addition to the 250 already on the street, and that's "roughly 50%" of the seniority list. That suggests that there are currently about 1250 pilots. Furloughing 500 of those would presumably be all FO's, unless there's a reason that 5+year FO's were bypassed for upgrade and there are some very junior captains on that list.

Li'l help?

Most junior guy after the furlough has a hire date of 7/10/2000. Most junior captain after all of the displacements has a hire date of 4/26/1999. Good times, good times....

On the 3rd quarter seniority list the most junior CA is an 8/22/2000 hire. There are approx 24 CA's between that guy and the most junior guy that will be left after all the furloughs. So when the furloughs are complete (this time anyway) everyone that remains will have either been a CA here at one time or at least had the seniority to hold it (but didn't upgrade for various reasons). It's a real mess around here.

Not sure if we are "actively" recruiting, but UPS is hiring and should hire more than the 100 we officially commited too.

I've been looking all over the place and I can't seem to find anywhere to apply. I did find the web page to apply to other jobs at UPS but no pilot positions. Is this on another website or maybe the window is closed for now?

Sorry to hear about the problems at I-Air.

As I think someone else posted ASA is hiring at the moment. I had a checkride a couple of weeks ago with an APD who does the new hire sim eval. He said that they had been having problems getting qualified people to apply, but that they liked the ACA guys. Flying the sim eval in a CRJ200 sim should be no problems and they already know the aircraft. Even better he said that they told them to fly the sim using their company procedures and they weren't too different from ours.

Going to the bottom of our list would suck but you would be welcome here and not have to resign your seniority at ACA for what that is worth.

Best of luck
