That said just looked at our bitching board and the word from the fleet manager is that they (AWAC) are looking at doing interviews in IAD for ACA furloughs to fill positions in classes starting Feb. .
Is that a sign that AWAC is getting the UAL flying?

Good luck to every one that is getting furloughed.

I know that ExpressJet will welcome you over here.

It sounds like we are going to run another new hire class here at Capital in February. Starting pay is $50.64/hr with a 62 hour guarantee. It's night freight but a good company. With all the people out on the street having someone walk your resume in is the best way to get the interview.

Maybe we as a group can learn something that will help us from the major upset in the industry.

When the majors were paying so well, it was ok for most to become a "slave" for awhile to build time. The plug has been pulled. IMO, there will be no to very little upside to this profession until we come together as a group. I just don't see that happening quite yet. Why? There hasn't been enough pain collectively as a group to give us the motive. Now, if SWA was looking at a 40% paycut, some heads would be rolling.

The employees of this industry are paying for managements mistakes.

Who knows but company was signing a new contract to do heavy MX on the RJ's down in JAX. They seem to be going ahead with stuff as if nothing was really wrong, ie. MX, ACARS in 87 aircraft, new hire classes etc etc.

Buzzer,

You've come pretty close to the mark here. Only the fare structure of the majors of the late 1990's could support RJs.

If all the majors go to an LCC type structure, RJs go away. You don't see B6, SWA or AirTran paying someone else to fly aircraft.

ACA dumped UAL for a reason, and that reason was that UAL didn't want to pay the going rate to operate the aircraft. If everyone is an LCC, then no RJs.

Not to be picky but Air Wisconsin was paid by Airtran to fly CRJs out of ATL for a little over a year.

But AirTran has since ended that operation. And I don't believe they've sought offers for anyone to fly RJ-type equipment since ending their deal with AW.
