I saw a guy strutting through a mall in Dallas with full uniform. Complete dork. He couldn't have taken off his epaulets and tie in the car?

I agree it's tacky to wear yor uniform to a job fair, but why to all of you tease people for wearing their uniform in the mall or grocery store? Yeah, I'm sure they put it on just to go there! No, dummy, they had to stop by on their way home from work! They probably live out in the sticks like me and try to do all of their shopping while they're there instead of wasting gas! But sure it's to pick up chicks. Because chicks dig pilots, right? I've been a pilot long enough to know better.

You guys will just make fun of someone for anything!

This is a debate that I have heard a million times, and all I ever have to say is that I see Doctors and Nurses in uniform and scrubs all the time, and I see business men and Lawyers in Suits all the time, so get over the fact that you have to wear a uniform and be proud to represent your industry. If I have to stop by and run a arrand on the way home I am not going to change my clothes to do so. That is stupid! Now on the other hand I am not going to put on my uniform anytime that I don't have too.

Hi!

I can easily see attending in uniform. U have 1 day, so u jumpseat in and out. When I'm on the road I don't carry any dress clothes, so if I had minimum time to get to the job fair, I'd have the choice of either a pilot's uniform or jeans and a polo shirt.

I think if I knew I was going to a seminar, I might take that big step out of my normal routine, and pack some nice clothes. Is the job opportunity worth a little effort on your part? Would you go to an interview with your uniform on? If things go well at the seminar, you might get some face time with those that do the hiring. You only get one chance for a first impression.

I don't think so, it's not chuch, it's a place where employers look at you not compare uniforms. If you're going for a UPS delivery driver position, you're not going to show up in a Fedex uniform are you? Still this whole thing is not as bad as pilot academies and guys who wear uniforms when they are off duty, GAY!

CX880 I never said anything in my post about going the recruiting events in uniform. I was talking about in general if I have to stop by the grocery store on the way home, or run to radio shack or best buy at the mall on the way home, I am not going to change. As far as wearing a uniform to a job seminar I know that if I was in HR I wouldn't hire that applicant. If your going to a interview, you should go out and buy a suit like the rest of the world, even if it is a mass interview session.

Our FOM clearly states when and where you may wear your uniform, and a job fair is not one...

When the company pays for my uniform, I'll follow that part of the FOM. Until then I will wear my uniform wherever I wish. At this time, that only includes work, and the occasional gentlemen's club, but only if I don't have a chance to change before happy hour is over.

On the subject of weddings.... We had a guy go to a wedding in uniform. Don't know if we had anyone get married wearing it, but a flight attendant got married in a hangar once.
