You do not pay for your training for the metro at all. Only the Saab FOs are paying for training which is new beacuse they were paying for everybody's training until someone took the type and left.

Sometimes its not about the money Big Al. I took the job beacuse I was throwing boxes at FedEx with 300hrs and they called me and I did not have to move out of MIA. I do not know any other company that would have hired me with 300hrs, give me an ATP and two type ratings in less than two years. I guess it comes down to what you want to get out of a job. Looking back I do not regret it on bit.

What are the routes for the SAAB?

well at least they treated you good, but all the complaints about pay for training scams, I just cannot understand how they can sit on their high horse and take jobs that pay literally poverty level salaries. especially in big cities. how did you manage to live in miami?
 
I am fortunate enough to have a working wife that was holding it down while I was an F/O. But its true that MIA is expensive to live. Alot of the F/Os Have roomates which helps a great deal I hear.
 
Hey, they PAY for an f/o in an aircraft (metro) that does not require a F/O and even pay for training. 18.500 is about what you get first year as a f/o at a regional, with lot longer upgrade times. Junior bases at a lot of regionals are usually equally expensive big cities as Miami.
I consider IBC a lot better deal than a regional: you get plenty of international experience flying a demanding plane, quick upgrade, same pay, no pay for training (except the saab apparently).
A whole lot better than Gulfstream f/o, CAT and Focus air s/o pay for training and hours program and still living in expensive Miami

Careful with your fly circles around the regional guys comment chief..... I saw one of your Metro FO's fail right the hell out of a Regional's glass cockpit training program. Keep in mind that this regional has a reputation for doing everything they can to help people finish the course of training (including several extra sim sessions in this guys case). Great guy, but couldn't hack it in the "Glass" environment. And for the record I know about hand flying as my background also includes the Beech 1900. The old school turboprop isn't carrying as much weight as it used to, especially now in the day and age of automation and glass cockpits........
