Hotels are horrible at IAD. Be careful using priceline or another website. The hotels that you end up with may not have van transport. Cab fare will kill you and there is no public transpo. The trip from DCA or BWI can get expensive if you don't build a 3 hour window into your commute. Expect about an average of a 5 to 6 hour commute from the time yo arrive at CLT. Almost faster to drive.

If you go into BWI, you can commute to IAD by taking the commuter bus B30 downstairs by SW and go to Glenmont station, from there take the Green Line metro train to L'Enfant station, go upstairs and catch the metro bus 5A to Iad, total cost $9.95, total trip time 100 min.

And what is the crashpad hotel situation like around IAD?
All listed have shuttle service to IAD.

Hilton 3.5* $55
Crowne Plaza 3.5* $40 to $46
Hyatt 3.5* $40 - $47
Hilton Garden 3* $40 - $45

Winning bids on Priceline.

I'm hearing all the IAD crashpads got shut down by some gov't prick. Someone needs to start one. There's no way I'm moving up there.
