Mungasaurus
(cool handle by the way, especially in a munged up industry like
ours)

A year ago feb, a sked person sent a letter to the crew room instructing all of the pilots that They were responsible for their
skeds, not crewsked, and that all pilots needed to call crewsked
at 0430 to find out if their sked had been changed...this was the result of crewsked f*&$#@ng the pooch and leaving a flight uncovered...pretty funny in retrospect, because one skeduler was
telling crews to go home due wx cancelations in STL, while another sked person was frantically trying to cover this other flight!

Most of the pilot group is still here (unfortunately) but the guilty
sked persons have moved on to more prosperous activities...yeah, we don't have a contract...can't even get a union to talk to us cause we're sooo smalllll...and our paychecks(?) can't handle another deduction!

Vent on dude, we don't need anyone going postal! Just float your nighquill over about four or five inches of bourbon in a tall, ice filled glass, let it get really, really cold and drink rapidly...might want to be standing over the toilet if you aint used to it!

Yeaachhh!

P.S.

I've heard fedex pilots whine about their jobs, but I think that the
best one was "I run the world's most expensive daycare center"
from the former CP at Midway.

One of the biggest problems in this industry is there are just too
many of us that want to be "airline pilots". With the conditions the way they are i'm surprised anyone makes more than $30k per
year! Even more surprised that an airline that is begging concessions to avoid bankruptcy can pay the ceo $82M to vacate the Premisis!

Most of my sympathy goes to the TW guys...boy, was that an add for how much good the union(s) are! "Two great airlines, one great future." BS That 82M would have kept TW running for quite a while!

We all lump it...everytime we sound happy and professional on
those incipid in flight anouncements, apologize for the delay at
the gate or what ever and lie about trying to make some of it up in the air!

acaterry

if you have been in my position, then don't call me a tool, PFTs are tools, i work my ass off to try to make the rent and debt payments, which maybe your didn't have to cause your dad's an MD, well, mine is not.

god bless!

PS. by the way, i dont dislike anyone around here, i bet we all could have a few beers together and have apleasant time!
seriously

i've read the scoop and frankly, many of you didn't convince me that FLECHAS deserved the pounding he took.

my perspective, this industry sux, and i'm looking for ways to leave my lover, the one ,that made me go down on her so many times. yeah, this toxicating stinking profession deludes one into thinking follow your dreams , all the way up to 350.

FLECHAS, is simply a young guy who has inhaled alot of 100LL, and when he's sweating and doing his run up, thereby delaying us all, he's sees us taxiing up with our mean regional machine.

he's just a guy with enthusiasm, and it will take it to right where we are now, into a cesspool called airline flying. there are so many jobs i could do for 30 grand and stay at home, its fricckin ridiculous. I plan on officially signing off when i do hang it up.

Mung is right , it sux, crap it sux for the Alleg. guys and piedmonters who're getting screwed, it sux for basically everybody, even the fo pay at chatauqua with their new TA is a basically for a live at home or at the girlfriends(sorry aileron or happypilot girl with your pert little A$$) place.

Flechas just has a little unbridled enthusiasm. He'll change when the bills start coming due and kids want a new pair of shoes.

Funny you mention this; has anyone ever heard of a company filing for bankruptcy just to get out of their contractual agreement with their CEO? Of course not. They're all like that "For Love or Money" show, where the hot chick gets the mil the winning dude must give up to have her! "Sorry boys, we need pay concessions from you so we can make executive payroll this week!"

nothin' funny about it. Same goes for the exec types at all those
toy companies that get bonuses for keeping the company in the black...except to do it they sent twenty-five thousand jobs to China...and put potential passengers in the welfair line.

i work my ass off to try to make the rent and debt payments, which maybe your didn't have to cause your dad's an MD, well, mine is not.

Let's see......
1. 8 freaking years in the USMC, including a war
2. 5 years as a CFI IN ARIZONA sweating my a$$ off for 500-600 bucks a month
3. Dug holes for the city of PHX
4. Finished college
5. Sole income for my household

Eat a car battery you numbnuts! I worked plenty hard. I earned what I got. My father taught me a good work ethic. The last thing I have tolerance for is a nickel-and-dime punk telling me about the position I am in, when you know NOTHING about it. Then you have the nerve/stupidity to say that I should see what it's like to be in your shoes? That I never worked for what I have attained?
I worked long and hard for it. And I despise people like you who will have it compromised so you can ejaculate in your pants over "flying a jet". Do the world a favor and staple yer pie hole closed!

wow, to many men posting on a web board is much like to many men in a bar... there are bound to be some fights... Everyone here has worked hard to get where they are, doing what (hopefully) they love....

Why is everyone trying to argue over who's regional is worse? Its like when you are in kindergarden and you used to argue over whos red crayon was better. The majority of regionals suck, and then you move on to a major and sit on reserve for 5 years before you can even see a schedule, you finally get a schedule and you b!tch and moan because you arent flying the A330 yet, and your captain should have been institutionalized years ago... and then you become to old to fly and you sit around on your front porch telling stories to the grandkids about how you used to fly a beech back in your day and they dont make those airplanes anymore, what a shame. About once a year you get off your retired butt and you go to an airshow to see the antique planes, and you tell the pilots how you used to fly that plane back in your day with (insert regional here) and the pilot could really care less, and your keep on rambling about how you remember the time that you flew that plane into (insert small airport here) and you (insert not so amazing feat here) and all the while the pilot of the plane is trying to please you and look interested but he is really thinking about the hot chick looking at the plane next to his, and maybe just maybe if he can get you to shut up he can go and hit on her....

anyway.... good luck ;)

ACA Terry, Time to Retire??

Sounds like you worked really hard in your life and have served your country and your employers well.

You deserve a vacation!!! Hang it up and let the punks like me get what we deserve. I am sure you planned well and have much to retire on or have another profession or trade to work in.

60 isn't early enough for some people - I don't know you but you might be one of them.

Conquest Driver,
Actually I'm just shy (won't tell how much;) ) of 40. Don't have much to retire on as until making CA at ACA, I've never made enough to pay bills and put into retirement.
I kind of look forward to retirement at 60. You have long enough to save in the meantime, but when you get there you're still young enough to enjoy the $ you retire on. Geez, never thought I'd look at 60 as "young".....
In the meantime, I just want to enjoy what I've worked for without some jellyfish helping it to be taken away. Especially when they speak with such authority on something they have no idea about.

This is for fletcha
I got 2500 h in a 152/172 instructing
worked for 3 freight outfits flying at night packges in any weather, you have to park during the day in the weeds because they do not want to mix nice airplanes with airplanes having 6 to 10 faded different paint jobs. You ground an airplane it better be realy broken or you are out of a job. one time I had 16 MEL,s.
In winter your deicing is a scrasper and if you call the truck you are out of a job.
Worked 3 years flying turboprops for a regonal outfit.
at that time a FO started at 13$ and capt was making 25$
Got hired by an major and I am 12 months on furlong.

Right now I fly in china as 737 capt with 250h Fo's

Before spook some one you gota pay your dues

ERAU_Girl,
I'm sorry sweetheart, I'm not impressed... I'm sorry guys, I've tried like hell not to pop off over the silly posts, but she takes the cake... Good God, man, poor me another marg...
Jason

ERAU Girl

This all assuming that said pilot has SURVIVED flying these aircraft. I know I went to aishows and listened very carefully when the old timers spoke. Most of them have forgotten more than I knew/ know. You may be wise to do the same.
I know 2 who wont be pi$$ing off young bucks at airshows in the future. Jay, Chper; the dollar draughts are on me.
Keep the greasy side down and, ne te confundant illegitimi.
Thanx, Mung.
PS: look the latin up. TJ you already know what it means mate.

My Grandpa told me how they put potasium nitrate in the food

MFs and 2)Bad economy as we are.

I wish I had as much time in taildraggers as I do junkstreams,
but I have commited to trying to combine business and pleasure.
Don't work out all of the time. But I've flown a few...Clipper,Pacer,
Bucker(and that is with a "B") Stinson, Bellanca, Cessna (120&140) and a Student Prince (look that one up, there were only 3 built).

i have to give you credit for all you did, if i would have known all that before, i wouldn't have said that about your dad being a MD and you not working hard, my bad on that side.
what i don't understand is that firs you gave me sh!t for saying that i'm willing to have a better job than mine, then i'm a tool for having MY job (at least i have a job, some suckers here pay for their "job"), then you and some more people gave me more sh!t because you all have been in my shoes (so yuo guys have been as much tools as i am). what i'm trying to say here is that me, like you, would like to have better working conditions. maybe you have good working conditions right now, but i'm sure that when you were in the same position that i am right now you wanted something better(and im sure you would have taken munguramus job too, and shame on whoever doesnt want soemthing better than being overworked and underpaid, almost any flight instructor, at least low timer like me).
anyway, my point is that we are no different, we are all in the same boat, but im a few years behind you, thats all.
again, my apologies for prejudging yuo and what you have earned, it's just that yuo gave me too much **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** about wanting more, but i'm sure you are a nice guy, maybe we can have a beer if you come down to sunny florida, i'll buy!

tiktak:
good thing your 250h F/Os dont come to this board, cause they'll be getting a good treatment here.
i admire you too, as well as acaterry, and again, im sure you wanted more when you were screaming "right rudder" or flying squal lines at midnight.

climbhappy:
thanks for undersanding, really, i'll buy you a beer too.

fly safe guys ;)

Mung,
Thrillled to see your post, can't wait to see you guys on Saturday!

Chperplt,
Dude, that's classic... Whoever thought there'd be such sentiment to that one... Remember that story, Mung?

Belchfire,
You gotta come have one with us...

Flechas,
(In my best Jerry Springer castmember character) Talk to the left Brutha, 'cause it still aint right... Love ya' anyway, you goofy F#ck!

ERAU_Girl,
Sweetie, can you please bring the captain and I some coffees, thanks, love...

Jason

ERAU girl, you've got it , too. laugh a little, by the way ,are you the one with the pert little a$$, i can't keep you or happy pilotgirl straight?

Beer and wings for everybody!!

climbhappy,
i'll buy the pitcher and the wings (as long as we eat between 4-7 pm!!)

jason,
you can come along, you'll like the place, the beer and the music, and you will love the company ;)

fletchas
read the numbers
try 2500 h and 4 years instructing ( wash, gas, tow ( acualy at that time the rich boys tipped ) file papers and do what ever the fbo gods wanted me to do.
If fou drop a zero from the mins and mora you got to be in the ground

In 1988 hiring mins for DAy VFR single engine 135 was
2500h total
ATP
500 multi ( dont ask me why)
500 ifr
500 night
to fly a lance in southern cal

times were different then

tiktak

i get your point.
but the fact that you did this and wanted a better job (which i imagine you did) doesn't mean you were a tool, or does it? not that you called me that, but there's my whole point.
BTW, is your company hiring F/Os from here?

flechas

ps. you wanna join us at the bar?

Flechas

The company has an ab ibito program

All the future pilots are screened and undergo english, pycholgical and math testing.
Selected candidates recive theire primary flight training and then start sitting in the jumpseat as 2nd officer for about 2 years.
During this time they complete there instrument and commercial certificate. After 2 years they have about 180 h.
Then they recive there type rating in the equipment.
It takes about 30 sim sesssions for them to pass the type ride.
The cost is unemportant because this is part of the entitelment coupled with the aircraft purchase.
then they start flying as first officers, with a lot of limitations.
For the first 2 years on line they are not allowed to fly below 10000. after that they are only authorised to land with the autoland.
After about 10 years they upgrade to capt.
Hope this helps and you see what kind of work I have cut out.

in jet the only time you use rudder is during the takeoff and landing roll.
In flight only during assymetrical trust.
If you fly a sweet wing with rudder the flight atendends will hate you and no more meals or coffee. only prezels and peanuts.

tiktak,
i was kidding about the job, but thanks fpr the info anyway, i know some people from asia and kinda had an idea of how the hiring goes.
i knew about the rudder, but im sure that if rudder was needed in the jets you would have to be screaming Right Rudder! to those F/Os.
best of luck and hope things get better for you.

flechas

Flechas,
Just to clarify: I did not call you a toll over the job you had, nor the hours you had, nor the wanting a better life. What got me going was the way you told us that "we should try being in your shoes" and that we had no reason to be upset with the trend that is developing within the airlines toward their pilot groups. We had a long hard road to get where we are, and when someone is willing to make the job less rewarding in terms of work rules and compensation, we get mad. Especially when the ones who are doing it are willing to do it for so little just because "they want to fly a jet". My stipulation was that instead of lowereing the standards, which inevitibly lowers the reward, that perhaps these people can work a little longer and harder to make it to the airlines. Just because someone wants something does not mean that they deserve it.
The tone you seemed to be coming on with was the typical "oh then I'll be happy to do it, I'll even do it for less". If this is the case, I stand with what I said. If I somehow misinterpereted what you said, then I'll join in on the beers.....as long as it's not Michelob.;)

acaterry,
no hard feelins here, and don't worry about the beer, you pick it, just let me know when you are coming down here, ill buy the first round!
