I have read many posts concerning the new domicile system at NJA. I can live anywhere for a little while but as a mid-term (3 years +/-) I would eventually like to be live in my base.

Would this be a viable plan...

1. get hired at NJA and be assigned to say DAL...or whatever.

2. Serve 2 years in DAL and then bid NJI as an FO.

3. Stay an FO at NJI (with home basing) until
a. policy is changed at NJA
b. upgrade to CA at NJI.

How feasable is this based on CBA and seniority of people bidding over to NJI. Will I even be able to hold NJI after 2 years on the property?

Thanks

It may or may not be viable - much would depend on the outcome of the single carrier petition in the next few years. If NJI is intergrated into NJA you wouldnt have to bid over but then newhires at NJI might loose HBA rights if that were to happen. There are too many unknowns in this scenario. Also 2 years seniority would, I imagine, probably not be senior enough to hold these slots.

Possible, not probable. The senority of the FO's going over there is somewhere around 2+ years. However anything is possible.

The most junior guy that went was around 1400 (give or take a few hundred)? Maybe someone can confirm?

What is the DOH for someone around 1400...thanks for the quick replies.

Something else to consider about going over to NJI, is the loss of pay. You will lose hourly overtime pay, per diem, holiday pay, and a bunch of other benefits. In addition, they are only taking delivery of 5 aircraft this year, and who knows how many next year.

One additional factor is that in two years, NJA can file for the single carrier petition, and if it passes, you will be in the same boat..... just some thoughts....

More than 1.... Less than 6.

And I'll bet a beer on that! (cheap American crap only)

Quick question Wolf - How much of your flying is actual international vs US domestic?

Sorry for the late reply... was on vacation and then recurrent.

70/30 when I fly the GV/550

50/50 when I fly the 450

Met one of the NJA guys who came over, class act pilot with a very positive attitude. Said he loves it here.

Wolf,

Thanks for the info. Welcome back! Are all the NJI guys rated on the 450 and V/550? I thought they were 2 different type ratings. I was at TEB today and saw a N4&&QS Gulfstream, but it had the GV style reversers. Is that a 450?

A 450 has the painted thrust reveresers.

I'm not mad, I'm proud of you. You took your first pinch like a man and you learn two great things in your life. Look at me, never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.

Oz,

There are about 250 pilots at NJI flying only the G-IVSP/400. There are about 55 pilots flying the G-V which is a different type rating. Those same 55 pilots also fly the G-550 and G-450 which is the same type as the G-V but requires differences training for the avionics (which also apply to the G-350 which NJI does not operate). Clear as mud?

Yeah.... what he said!

I'm an FO on the GV/550/450. I did a year in the IV and elected to go to the other plane"s" for a 5% pay raise (which by the way is no longer offered) for a 2 year seat lock. When my seat lock is up in 17 months I can go back to the IV as a Captain if my seniority will hold it. Or I may be giving babies and moms yellow smilely face stickers in my blue vest.

Wolf
(who isnt proud of the Pack right now)

Wolf did you go from a capt in the IV to FO in the 450/550?

Naw,

Pack was a IV F/O, now yanking gear for many of the, ahem, "more colorful" of our group in the V / 550 / 450 but will return gloriously as a IV Captain in the spring of 2008 Uncle Warren willing and the creek don't rise. Right Bill?

BTW, I'm getting fitted for the orange apron....

Would the "more colorful" of your group be comparable to the Falcon cadre at our group?

Diesel,

My agent correctly answered your question.

I just finished my 1st recurrent in the V/550/450. Ive got 17 months on my seat lock.

Hows the weather in Bean Town?

Wolf....
(bought a new truck and bass boat)

Weather is beutiful wish you were her.
