Saying no to this and that is maybe easy for some, harder for others, I can't think of one part 135 operator that I ever flew for that was 100% by the rules, I'd bet there isn't one. Just my 2 cents.
 
Do not believe that FSDO does not care. Part 135 is currently under a huge microscope. Take a stand with Duty, regs, weights, maintenance and weather. The same operator that will fire you for that is the same one that will sell you out to the same FSDO to protect their own butt. Which scares you more, unemployment or employment plus a violation.

I once watched 2 co-workers get violated by the FSDO for flying overweight. One got his license revoked and one got a 90 day suspension.

As for recommendations from said employers, most operators will know of the shady operators habits.
