Yeah, nice. I would like to have seen the entire hud footage. He was accelerating through 308 knots on short final, wonder when the gear was dropped, etc... also curious what the target profile is. I am sure it must be practiced in the sim over and over, no chance for a go around!

my local ABC affiliate was showing it live while i was getting ready for work this morning. they kept going back and forth from a cam on the shuttle to the camera on the ground. was really cool to see it from both perspectives and watching as they went thru the clouds. first time i have ever watched a shuttle landing (haven't watched a launch yet either). would love to see it in person someday.

Do they hand fly it, or is it like a cat III ils?

I am about 30 miles west of the landing facility and heard the "boom..boom" as it was descending overhead. Talk about LOUD!
