How to help Comair?

Welcome to the regional job of tomorrow. Whoever is on top is knocked down. Nothing we can do fins - hold your money cause you are probably next. After Comair is whipped into submission or worse - the next in line will be the next highest rate. Then the next and so on. Noone got upset when ACA went away - or Mesaba, or COeX lost there planes - or the few we lost until recently. Juat remember - same national union.

Comair was just our sister - so watching her get 'violated' by her father owner is sad.

Their contract got tossed out because unfortunately the bankruptcy code allows it.

They will probably be prevented from seeking self help because unfortunatley the courts have ruled that the RLA prevents it under these circumstances.

So you want to contribute to a fund to help. That's great. How about contributing to a fund that lobbies congress to write laws that strengthen collective bargaining and strengthen labors right to strike. Support ALPA-PAC.

...Just read that we (ASA) are getting 8 70s...and the bulletin said something about them being flown down from CVG. ugh...are these comair birds?

You won't be getting them if nobody flys them in from CVG. Is there enough solidarity to nip this, or will people say, "This stinks, but what can you do? "

I'm not sure who you've been talking to but I know a lot of people who were upset about all of this. I don't know anyone who likes it when any airline shuts down or loses airplanes due to managements whipsaw machine.

yes, there are a number of comair pilots who never pass up a chance to rip other pilot groups for "lowering the bar"...yes, it gets old (i personally have been lectured to while riding up front with them)...and yes, in the short run it'd feel great to tell some of them to sit and spin...but think long term...supporting them furthers the profession and furthers the fight to get back to respectability in terms of work rules and pay...turning our backs on them does nothing but more damage to a career that can't take much more...don't make it personal...

RAH has a "no fly" clause in regards to flying struck work. I wonder how it will be applied if RAH flies a certain city pair and Comair flies the same city pair. Can DL just increase the frequency that RAH operates that city pair?

I know the RAH pilot group will support Comair pilots including not flying struck work. Wonder if everyone feels the same as me that city pair flights shared with Comair should not be increased? Wonder how the courts would view our contract as it relates to shared city pairs?

There's 737 Pylt still clinging on to whatever flame he can muster.

We all know nobody will fly struck work (right?), but what about the flying that will (is) being replaced while the judge blocks a strike? Its the exact same thing, and yet we'll be servicing 8 of our very own 70's flown by ASA pilots starting next month.

The judge has the ability to fine ALPA if the Comair pilots go on strike, but he doesn't have the ability to define what "struck work" is. If the Comair pilots are forced to not strike, any flying currently being flown by Comair should be declared "struck work" if it is transferred.

"Struck work" is defined by the union, not the judge, and should be announced post haste after an injunction. When (if) the company negotiates with the pilots, then we'll remove the "struck work" title.

That will help the Comair pilots.
