Feel free to move this, but I thought this section might be approriate due to the amount of young pilots who have recent CFI experience.

How much do or did you make as a CFI? What part of the country?

I'll be starting this summer in New Jersey, and haven't asked about the terms yet. But if the pay is outrageously low..they can keep the flight time...I'll work at Shopright.

At Pontiac MI KPTK....I started out at $16 an hour.....as Chief Instructor I was making around $20 an hour.

PAE Everett WA

Started cfi 12$hr, Ended CFII/MEI 1.5 years later 18$HR

No bennis, i.e. health, sick pay, paid vacation, 401. nothing

paid per block HR + ground time.

I made 14 bucks an hour with full benefits.......i think they charged us 10 bucks a month for medical, but the rest was paid for.......made 29K the last year I instructed...

There's only one rate for CFIs at my school (no change with "seniority").
$24.00/hr. But we don't get much traffic, so it about evens out.

Anywhere from 14-20 bucks an hour in college-GFK and then in PTK, never did any better than 18,000 a year.

I made $27k salary plus benefits at my last instructing job in AZ. It was a pretty good instructing job.

small midwest school
guaranteed a min of around $18k/year, $16/hr flight and $12/hr ground
full benefits (health, vacation, 401k, etc), any additional ratings were paid for

Worked for a school in NJ for a couple of years. School charged something like 35/hr, but we got paid 16-20/hr (based on hours per pay period). Might have had a month or two in the winters that were below 50 hours, most I ever flew was about 150 one July. For as cruddy a job flight instructing can be, Im really missing it....since moving on to bigger and "better" things.

$13/hr in 2003 in NH got a raise to $16
then $10/hr in orlando 2003, but 80+hrs a month
then ATP $800 a month i believe, but they paid housing

30K salaried: Mon-Fri, 8-5 PM teaching Koreans how to fly for KAL out of LVK.

Earned every freakin' penny of it...

When I was working for a school $22.50/hr flight or ground. When I freelanced I charged $40/hr flight or ground.

25 an hour, no bennies, 60-70 hrs a month
35-40 on the side, depending on the make and model of the customer's car, sometimes more, if their attitude was less than optimal

this is northeast, part 141 and 61
