1) Make sure you are qualified for the job you are seeking.
2) Create a professional resume.
3) Have someone review your resume.
4) Always have reference letters from your prior employers.
5) Create a personal mission statement and stick with it.
6) Find out where the openings are, shoot gunning resumes doesn't work.
7) Call and ask for an informal interview...so you can learn more about the company and they have a chance to meet you.
8) Sell yourself and what you have to offer, yet don't go overboard.
9) Always follow-up, however never do it more than once...nagging gets you nowhere.
10) Say a prayer.

Bull$hit. Apply early and update often. Some companies encourage applying before mins are met so that they can "follow your progress..."

Bull$hit. You never know who is going to all of a sudden decide they need folks as your resume comes off the fax machine. Shotgunning resume's led to an interview and a job offer for me at one airline. One job at a time is enough, no?

Not in aviation.....have someone you know at the company bring you in to meet the person who makes hiring decisions. Cold CALLING flying jobs is usually not a good idea.

Bull$hit....be the squeaky wheel..(within reason) This falls under the "APPLY EARLY-UPDATE OFTEN mantra.

I sent out 5-7 and got three interviews set up. Comair contacted me the next day and set up an interview. Pinnacle was about a week later. ASA took about a month. I did not know anyone at Comair or Pinnacle and ended up with offers to start at both. Comair is a much better company but considering Delta's financial situation I am giving Pinnacle a serious thought.
