How many airlines have 51 pilots making over $200k?

According to a recent propaganda letter to the pilot group from our D.O., we have a couple dozen AirTran Captains who made over $200K last year.

Now, I don't have the exact number in front of me, but I can tell you I wasn't one of them.

Before anyone gets in a froth over goings-on over at N.Y., understand this is round 1 in our upcoming contract negotiations, and the FAA is playing a real hard-ball P.R. campaign in anticipation of the whole mess heading towards impass and winding up in Congress' lap.

Without trying to refute individual charges and counter-charges, just let me state this:

There's been a near continuous bid open for New York facilities for 15 years. Last I looked, there's one open now. I make half what those top-dollar N.Y. controllers make. Now, ask yourself why I, or the 40 some-odd controllers I work with, or the thousands of controllers around the country, don't bid that job and create a huge backlog of folks just dying to move to N.Y. and make $200K? If what the FAA aledges is true and complete, N.Y. would have hundreds of qualified bidders.

My best friend, and bro in law is a Tracon controller at JFK, and while I don't know exactly what he makes, whatever it is, it takes 6 days a week to do it. He has been busting his butt for the last 10 years, and personally, I don't know how he does it. I wouldn't trade jobs with him for twice what he makes. If he is pulling in $200k, he deserves every penny and more.

As far as the audit goes, if you think that JFK is bad now, wait until these already short staffed facilities are even more short staffed......

As for the cloud over Coate stopping up the works, thank the SWAP (Severe Work Avoidance Procedures) and some nimrod watching the weather channel in DC for that one.......... the local guys were much happier (most of the time ) working with us for weather avoidance. now it is completely out of their hands when said nimrod closes down a route and reroutes everyone around a cloud that will be in a different spot or completely gone by the time everyone is released.


It doesn't just affect the NY area either....

age discrimination!! Why can't a 41 year old (me) learn to control aircraft as well as a 31 year old? I may have slowed down a bit, but could still learn that job. But I guess its only discrimination when its a pilot turning 60.
