Does anyone have an idea on how long after the DB meets it takes to receive a call from the PD to continue the process? I know if you are not successful at the DB letteres are received in a week or so. Good luck to those waiting on the results of tomorrows DB. Fly Safe

I have heard 10 days to two weeks. I also heard the board is meeting on the 11th, 12th and 13th. Although unconfirmed.

Best of luck!!

Normally they call the Monday after the decision board, in order to time the calls to occur at the time or after the time the negative letters arrive at people's homes. In at least 2 cases including my DB they called the day after the DB with the news, I believe because of holidays coming up and wanting to start the background check process. I don't think that is typical though. Good luck!

ping....ping....ping....

Ok, I promised myself I wasn't going to get nervous about this. Y'all are killin me.

2 day DB

Decision Board is meeting today & tomorrow...good luck to all. Phone calls are normally made to folks but don't go postal if you don't hear immediately, be patient....a letter in the mail will be the method for being told you weren't selected.

It will be a tough day for some but think about this...some of the folks who interviewed almost a year ago who weren't selected are now approaching that all important 1 year anniversary from when they can re-apply. Why would anyone go through this again?

1. You really want to work at Southwest, badly!!!!
2. You really want to work at Southwest, badly!!!!

Yes of course some of these folks will be called back again but the folks who will be successful the 2nd (3rd or 4th) time around will be those who have used this time wisely over the last year:
1. Improved their resume by adding PIC time
2. Added an additional leadership position to their resume, IP, check airman, training CA, etc.
3. Kept their nose clean
4. Continued to keep up to speed on what Southwest is all about & what is happening there
5. More complex flight time and/or 737 type or other type
6. Been hired by another airline (showing hireability)
7. Worked on the areas one may think one was weak in, i.e. interviewing skills, relaxing, working on confidence level, etc.
8. Continued to maintain relationships with Southwest friends who will write LORs (not a requirement to get hired so again don't get too worked up over it) or more importantly keep you pumped up about Southwest

For a company to give folks a 2nd (3rd & 4th) try is rather remarkable I think but for those who have been through the process you have an asset that others don't have...you've been through the process & the "surprise" of the experience won't be a factor the 2nd time.

These folks who are coming back for another attempt are worthy of our respect & appreciation at Southwest as are all of the applicants. If you think by not being selected somehow Southwest thinks you are not "Southwest material"....well, my argument against this thought is this: People don't change into "SWA material" from the first interview to the 2nd or 3rd or 4th try where they maybe accepted.....this isn't a beauty contest or a value judgement on any applicant....please try not to read more into a rejection than what it is...a chance to excel the next time. Most of us at Southwest all realize how fortunate we are to be here & know of many more folks who are just as qualified & well suited for Southwest.

Regardless of the outcome, know that the values & skill sets you showed to Southwest are of any less or more value than if one is hired or not. The frustration will be real if not selected but that isn't the end of the world....there is always tomorrow, next year & family & friends to pick you up and motivate you again. Flying isn't for the faint of heart & neither is interviewing!!!!

I wish all folks who are meeting this board, interviewing & others waiting for the call good luck in your aviation career....fortunately the folks who are hiring these days seem to have similar values to Southwest & appear to treat their folks very well......hopefully that is a good sign for this industry despite all the negative ones out there.

First of a correction to some info I posted not too long ago. I mentioned 2 CA upgrade classes had been cancelled...actually only 1 got cancelled & the other class started this week I believe or last week. One is schedule for next month also for new CAs.

As for dates for Feb, I was told (unofficially, definitely not "firm") 4 classes in Feb with classes schedule to go back to a either Wed or Thur start date...that would put the first class in Feb on 2 or 3 Feb.....previously to the current Monday start classes started on Thurs (with fun new hire party on Wed night)....again the good news is the likelihood is 4 classes in Feb if things stay on track....what is interesting about that fact is that with 160 pilots training in the first 2 month & assuming there might be 2 more classes in Mar, that would equate to around 18-19 airplanes arriving...from some older numbers I believe though from Jan-Apr the total number of announced aircraft isn't sufficient to cover these additional aircraft....makes one wonder what the webcast on 19 Jan might have in terms of interesting info....stay tuned...of course (as I have proven many times)....SWA is very good at making surprise announcements with no hint proving all pundits wrong (including FOs who should stick to flying)....

Thanks Chase for all the great info. When do you think class calls for Feb may go out, if they plan on 4 classes in Feb?
tytl

normally 4 weeks prior, so tommorow if it is on the 7th, or mid-week if it is on the 9th. since no calls have gone out yet, i am guessing nothing is starting mid-week the first few days of feb (the 2nd-3rd) since a new class starts on the 31st of jan.

Just a reminder....the folks in the PD don't adhere to the "flightinfo" schedule of classes...they deal in reality....something that occasionally appears on here so don't believe everything you read & certainly don't innundate the PD with a desire to confirm classes unnecessarily.....patience is a virtue & when your time comes they'll be sure to let you know....you're mother didn't allow you open presents before Christmas for a reason....considering the position that some of you are in this should be a time to enjoy family & friends....most importantly
