 I just wanted to find out How is the training at Pinnacle, anyone who finished up there recently, I here the washout rate is Quite high, I had a buddy 2 years ago washout there also I have a friend training there in Sim right now and he said that the ground school no instructors are really present during ground school, that you have to nearly do it on your own, and that sim is tough he said that the guy he is with is going to get evaluated and if he does not do it right he has his walking papers to go home,I hope this guy gets through, can anyone shed some light here. Tanx

They don't require you to understand basic sentence structure, spelling, use of punctuation or capitalization. You'll be fine.

I've heard the ground school instructors are very seasoned pilots but none of them have touched the CRJ making it interesting for people in the class. All in all though, I'd be more concerned about 2 months no pay / have to pay rent / no flight benefits.

On the plus side, I've heard Pinnacle is a good place to be / good company ~ I'm trying to go there!

Dude,

That was very painful reading that post. I had to run, just to keep up with the run-on's. My 6th grader writes better sentences than that!!! I'd stand a better chance of understanding ebonics!!

Pilots are teachers now?

What's up with all of the "grading" that goes on here? The question didn't ask you to grade spelling and grammar. He wanted to know what that airline's training program was like.

Loosen up. A lot of people here seem to be really spooled up and edgy. What's the deal?

Its not just "here" but in REAL LIFE.

If someone came up to me and started talking just downright terrible English, they would start losing points with me. I'm well travelled and I realize that English is not everyones first language but it does show an automatic lack of education or motivation to learn the language.

Even if I consciously don't think anything, subconsciously the person is losing points right off the bat.

Thats real life. You may not do it in real life, but almost everyone else does. Go to an interview, and start dropping words from your sentences and see how far that takes you.

The training progam has gotten better, better than what? 2-3 years ago..
The ground instructors have no experience in the CRJ, but yes they are seasoned. At least they are pilot's, previous ground instructors were not even pilots.

Depending on which ground instructor you get, it can be from excellent to self study.. It is the luck of the draw so to speak.

Sim instructors are slightly different.. They have been in the sim for at least 3 years now. They know the training environment dead cold, not the line environment. If your instrument skills are sharp and you have a good scan you will breeze through it. Come to the sim and need to learn how to fly instruments and you too will be evaluated. They don't "teach" in the sim, they expect you to fly profiles, know your flows and how to "manage" the autopilot. The sim is all about management, priorities and common sense.

Some of our sim instructors are a bit on the tough side, some get carried away, but all in all they want to see you pass.

The washout rate last I heard was about 10-15%.. most of it was due to attitude. Be humble, get your "yes sir's" down pat and you will more than likely pass. Have the attitude your related to Chuch Yeager, and have a northen accent and you will fight your way to the check ride.

Finally.. years ago.. it was a one shot deal to the check ride, these days you bust, they retrain and you go again. If you show "promise" they give additional sim sessions, this is 180 degree's from years ago...

In REAL LIFE, I'd bet this person doesn't speak like he/she types. I am well travelled also thanks to the military. Formal education has nothing to do with proper grammar. You either learn it or you do not learn it. I have no college education at all. I only have a high school diploma. Does that make me any less intelligent than you or any other person? I don't think so.

By the way, I'm in line to be an ATC. Scary, isn't it?

You did it...

dondk pretty much nailed it. The quickest way to washout is by not being prepared during any of the phases of training. If you don't know your Mem items/limitations you're gone. If you go to the sim expecting them to teach you the profiles that you should've learned during the CPT's you're toast. But like dondk I've heard that if you have the right attitude and are making an effort then the training gurus give you extra chances.

And with 8 yrs in the sim at Pinnacle's big brother I can tell you make sure you have a very good instrument SCAN..A good reference to your skill level would be you can shoot an ILS app down to 100 ' raw data.Steep turns plus or minus 50' and 5 knots.

 Vik, who died and made you god ? If all else fails in your career as a pilot, go and teach 3rd grade english. Otherwise get a life, find a women and you probably, need to get some. Later. dgarro.

Dude, Here's some English for you. GET A LIFE and based on your time you won't get far either junior. Your proper english won't help you anyway.

Can we arrange a meeting so I can just hit you.
