How far from domicile ?? NJA

I don't believe you can change domiciles once you go to one as a new hire. It is not in the contract and that is what we are bound by. I was told when I interviewed that I could change at the quarters, but I now think they were wrong and they probably are not giving that information any more. I would have taken the job either way, but I was hoping to change next year. Maybe some time in the not too distant future more bases will be added and if this happens I would guess a new clause would be included to allow the moves within the gateways, but who knows.

Section 19.3 of the CBA covers the reserve schedule. You can go to http://www.ibt1108.org, click on "NetJets pilots", chose "Info for New Hires" and then select "Contract" to read it in full.

To summarize, unless you are on a required day off (either one of the four monthly H-days or a required day off following a tour), you are to follow the contact procedures in Section 28.2 to identify workdays. Section 28.2 says that the company is to contact you via the blackberry by 1800 local (your time zone) to give you a briefing. If you don't receive a briefing by 1800 local, you are to contact the company by 1900 local to get that briefing. There is no 24/7 standby.

So you'll know the evening before if the next day is a duty day or not when you are on reserve. If it is a day of work, you'll be told when and where to report. I've heard others talk about how the reserve schedule is actually working out so it would be best if they chime in themselves, as I'm on the 7/7 schedule.

Too bad STL or SUS couldn't be a satelitte for CMH! It'll be interesting to see how well my 6.5 hour commute works out! At least I got 7/7 on my first bid.
I have yet to commute however because I'm still awaiting AC training.
I heard that at the end of a tour, if they are having to airline me to CMH, I can negotiate a ticket back to STL, paying any difference in ticket price.
Anyone care to share their experience with this?

I am a reserve guy who bid the 7/7 starting may. I live 362 miles away from my domicile which equates to 5-6 hours driving. Not what you want while on reserve. It did work out sometimes, it didn't others.. For example... a 4am show means go to bed at 9pm, wake up at 1030pm and start driving immediately. Traffic is great but you are toast on your first day. Luckily most of the captains I have flown with have had some sympathy for me and hate the domicile thing. Because of this they made sure I got some sleep the first night.. Thanx!
You can call the company and ask to switch domiciles after the fact..but.. the answer will be no unless you get a new person who doesn't know any better.. then more power to you!
As far as the company changing anything.. they are backed up in hiring so you can figure they are happy with what they have.. good luck to all
