Yeah, that's great, less major jobs and more commuter jobs. Ahhhh, I don't think I'm the only one out there that started a career in aviation with the goal of working for a major. I can't believe how much this industry has changed since I started flying 10 years ago. The first time I flew on Delta was in the jumpseat of a Super 90 back in 1999. I still remember how impressed I was with the crew. Best of luck to those guys and all their co-workers.

If DAL pilots go on strike, it will mean the END of DAL, It will take only a few days before DAL will file chapter 7 liguidate and be done for ever. Once that happens Skywest Would have 100 planes sitting with no Delta flying to be done. They would furlough 1000 pilots while they srcambled to find flying for the now parked 100 plus planes that once flew for Delta colors. Comair would also be done!!!!! So for skywest sakes you better hope that DAL stays around.

I heard that if Delta goes on strike and liquidates Skywest was going to bring back 200 Metros and fly to all of the Delta markets from SLC.

They'll, of course, hire street captains to fly them because upgrading kids who cant fly without glass and an autopilot would be a mistake.

I wonder if this idiot is actually a blowjet pilot. The only way Skywest is going to pick up any Delta flights is after Delta goes belly up. At that point not only Skywest, but all the airlines would have to step in to pick up the flying out of ATL, CVG, and SLC. They would have to accept pax that have Delta tickets on a stand by basis. And maybe then, maybe, Skywest can buy some the Comair CRJs.

If you are thinking of anything before Delta goes belly up, then you are nothing but a SCAB, you don't even deserve this title because you are lower than that, like another pilot had said over here once, if you were on fire, we would not even piss on you!

The thrill would wear off in a week. I'd get to say "heavy" on the radio a few times, then I'd quickly get bored, quit, and go to Home Depot for a pay raise and a career.

Truthfully I am a airline business economist and I overheard some pilots talking about this in the Denver airport a couple of days ago. I just wanted some feed back from the people who are in the industry, I am truly sorry for stiring up so much angst.

Now, being an airline business economist.....do you have any contact with airline management? If so, go tell them to give themselves a 50% paycut and then maybe they may get some respect and morale may start to go up a little.

At the risk of reiterating myself (I may have been drinking....)



If Delta walks, the connection carrier pilots MUST stand firm. Whether or not the strike is legal, we cannot allow ourselves to be used to as replacements in any way. I know a lot of you guys are new to this industry and fairly inexperienced when it comes to labor relations. There's one thing everybody must understand. Forget ALPA, Teamsters, SAPA, etc.... If we don't stick together as pilots, we are finished. Airline management counts on being able to split us up. They count on some people being weak. They know that if one labor group walks off the job, there will be plenty of pilots out there just waiting to fill a slot. Well, count me out. For me, it has nothing to do with being labeled a scab or worrying about my future career expectations. It has to do with the way I feel like I should treat other people. I WILL NOT stab another pilot in the back. I WILL NOT take up the slack for Delta if the mainline pilots walk. I REFUSE to look at myself in the mirror and know that I wouldn't support another pilot group when they had their backs up against the wall. This industry has gotten out of hand, and all we've got left is each other. Those of you who think you're doing yourselves a favor by cutting management a "short term" break (i.e. "Deal Brad an ace... you know who you are) are fooling yourselves. Right now we are all on a permanent downhill slide. Somebody has to stop it. At the moment, that burden has fallen on the Delta pilots. All of us need to be unified in our support of them right now. If your self-serving goals include waiting for Delta to walk so you can pick apart the pieces like vultures, count me out. I won't do it. If it comes down to it, I won't fly in an industry populated with people who will. I'll sell insurance before I allow myself to be caught up any further in the degradation of this profession. I've done this for too long to see it fall apart. I've got kids and a wife to worry about just like everybody else. However, I would rather never fly an airplane for a paycheck again than allow myself to contribute to the wholesale rape of the airline industry.

DALPA... Count me as one ASA pilot who stands firmly behind you. If it comes to it, I hope my coworkers have the guts to follow me out the door.

Because ASA pilots are not real ALPA members to Duane Woerth. Besides, Duane is afraid someone like me might show up and ask some real questions about ALPA's Representation.

Anyone else notice that ALPA seems like it could give a Rat's hiney for a single carrier with SkyWest? I'm figuring ALPA doesn't want SkyWest, or ASA for that matter - ALPA is probably worried that the Regional guys might be able to hold a vote at the Executive Board and then it would be all over for the millionaires at ALPA Nat'l. ALPA would rather see E170's go to a Teamsters outfit like Chautauqua / Mid Atlantic / Republic than have those airplanes flown by ALPA members at one of the "non-preferred" carriers.

I expect the Delta pilots to hold the line - simply because they are willing to out Gulfstream First Officer a Gulfstream First Officer. Have you seen Delta's proposed 100 seat rates and the comments by the Delta pilots on this board regarding those rates? Heck, they are less than SkyWest's 50 seat rates. They are less than I am personally willing to fly those airplanes for. If the Delta boys have shiny jet syndrome that bad, they can have the cure.

Like I said before the Delta pilots sold scope. They are now trying to buy some back. The problem is that they are talking about "paying" management for it while they hope to bury their brothers.

This is ALPA's problem. ALPA has turned pilots into enemies who fight over every block hour of flying. This is all the result of ALPA's failed scope policy and the failure of ALPA to recognize the peril of alter ego replacement flying.

I don't look for Duane, or any other ALPA National millionaire, to stop for long in a place where an ASA pilot can ask him a question.
