Mesa pays 21/hr for Jet and 19/hr for Turboprop. They get segment pay and per diem. I guess they update their segment times every couple of months in regards to ongoing delays to specific airports.

Congrats on the job. Pinnacle isn't the best airline out there, but you can certainly find a lot worse.

With that said, you really need to get out of the habit of saying things like "Im just excited to fly a jet in DTOWN." You're just asking for ridicule with statements like that. Flying a jet is ok, but it isn't as amazing as you think it is. After a month or two the thrill will wear off and you'll be pissed that you're only making $20/hr. You'll get junior manned and extended down to 7 days off and then you'll be wondering why you ever said things like the above quote.

You need to prepare yourself for the reality and not the show that goes on during the interviews. I remember being told at my interview that Pinnacle (then Express Airlines 1) was like Southwest with RJs! I was told of the wonderful relationship between management and the pilots. Of course, that is all a load of crap. Every airline says that stuff during the interview. HR people are like politicians. They tell you what you want to hear.

Again, congrats on the job. If you ever need help with anything, don't hesitate to PM me. Just lay off the "so happy to be flying a jet" thing.

Congrats on getting the job. There is the typical amount of BS here, like any airline, but most of us forget about it on our days off.

My only advise is when you finish training and get on line, do not go on a shopping spree as the Stop Over Store: NWA crew tags, NWA bag tags, NWA tie tack, NWA stickers, NWA lanyard, etc.

They don't factor in penalty box time in ORD though. Block or better for pay is the only way to go. You are just getting ripped off by getting segment. I believe Mesa's per diem is only $1.18/hr. The average regional pays $1.50/hr for per diem. That adds up over time.

I'm used to random people stomping on newbies, and some people are truly only around here to slam people or start fights (who are easy to spot and ignore), but I do remember a time a couple of years ago where we even AGREED on things, and if I pounced on you in specific it's because of that.

Just got hired at Pinnacle and I have to say something. There has been a lot of bad talk about this airline on here, but i saw nothing bad at the interview, and Ive been to a couple.
They now pay for your hotel for 2 months!!!!!

I can look beyond the BS that your gonna find at any regional knowing that the regionals isnt my career job. Im just pointing out that some of you that post in here are so frickin conceated and spoon fed little bitches that you cry over a sometimes crappy work environment. Ive done my research to see which one Im gonna take and I know I will learn $hit myself when I actually start somewhere that I might not be happy with, but every job is like that. If someone came out of High School while mommy and daddy paid for their schooling and flight training and THEY went on to a regional, yeah!, then they would cry because they actually have to work for a living. So be it! I LOVE IT! Im on call 24/7 right now so the regionals will be alot better that!

Heres the thing! I dont have an attitude towards people, I do howerver dislike it when people talk crap to low time pilots and act like they are hurting the industry. If you cant rely on that low time person sitting next to you then who is not getting the respect? Thats great that you have experience, but look back through the threads and you'll see who starts the crap! Its usually higher timed pilots wanting to spit out negative crap! I have nothing against you or anyone in here, as a matter of fact, many of the guys in here have helped me tremendously with their insight to each company. The fact that you "don't think so" is part of your problem. It absolutely would. However, since you have no concept of why, nor apparantly what is involved in being a "better pilot", then I guess hopefully at some point you will learn.

Let me put it to you this way. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE of us was overjoyed when they got their first airline job. The problem is that the "shiny jet syndrome" wears off, and then you're stuck with sh*tty pay, trying to raise a family, own a home, and maybe have a toy, but you can't. Why not? Because of every other guy coming into this industry with the "I love flying so much, I'd do it for free" attitude. What I would hope you would get out of this is to take everything with the grain of salt - from the whiners to the hardcore koolaid drinkers. The answer is in the middle. You'll eventually form your own opinion. Then get involved with your union... help out. You just might make a difference.

Once again, congratulations on your new job. Keep some of these points in mind, and come back in a year or two and tell me you still have the same attitude.
