I have a great idea, instead of telling all of us that there is evidence of a new threat of hijacking, why dont we put on every news network out there that during this "elevated" risk of hijacking, every person fitting the description of our current enemies will be thoroughly scrutinized and had better show up to the airport with a couple hours to spare.

Oh no folks, I am not a racist, I'm a realist. How many more lives have to be put in jeopardy for the sake of political correctness.

Friends I know are already saying, "I just wont fly", wait a minute, this is the USA right, and people are scared to go to the airport and get on an airplane. Is it not that simple, we can take care of all this responsibly and rapidly.

I'm not talking about inturnment camps, I'm not talking about deporting people, all I'm saying is lets act in a responsible manner for everyones sake, and not in a manner of being scared to stand up for what we know reality is.

Reality, after Sept. 11th, we all know what reality is, but I dont think the people in Washington do, they did, but there not interested anymore.

El Al never has this problem. And guess what -- they profile.

I have a question though. How many pilots are currently working for airlines in the United States who happen to be Islamic resident aliens working using green-cards?

Not saying we have anything to worry about from these ladies and gentlemen -- but just the same its disturbing that these folks are here working with thousands of pilots (who were born in the USA) are furloughed.

I support profiling.

Amen to that!

Birds of the same feather DO flock together.

There is a reason I am not President, God knows what I would do…

On 9/11 people only think they saw brutality, the worst of mankind. They have no idea what brutality is.

I would have surly been impeached maybe even tried and executed for war crimes but I would guarantee you one thing.

The world I would have left you and your children would be 1000 times safer than the one we know this very day.

The extremist who cry for holy war at the drop of a hat, who’s sole desire is to destroy America would have their sole wish to become a martyr granted.

I would have slaughtered every last one of them, their families, and their children’s children. I would have razed their cities and salted the very earth they once walked, then I would have taken to worldwide airways and absolutely dared anyone to even so much as spit in our direction.

You may hate us, provided you fear us.

Great avatar LR25, was just listening to Tull yesterday in my car.

I am always impressed with the level of stupidity of some of the posters on this board. Try and remeber what America stands for, if you ever knew to begin with.

I agree that profiling should have been used. We need to find terrorists, not box cutters. However, remember that our enemies are not stupid. They will adapt and recruit from people who do not "look" like the 9-11 terrorists. We must be more adaptable. So profiling is not the only solution.

Sounds just like one of Bin Ladens speech's!

You know they are winning when we become what we hate.

SOS, I said responsibly.

All you have to do is listen to the heads in DC, they have not learned a thing.

I know, and you know that TSA is not the answer. The TSA is a warm fuzzy for the ignorant.

Our political system is going to harm more inocent lives. We have pursuers after us, when does it become correct to protect ourselves? TSA?????????

When I have to ask my PAX if they are carrying any toys for there children that may be looked on as dangourous or threatening, thats rediculous, but that is what TSA has mandated. They are chartering a private jet, to get away from all the airline BS. I do have some common sense!

How can anybody stand by and just wait, to see what will happen in the name political correctness. Why is it we will willingly write policy in our own blood. How can we after what has already happened.

Everybody is too worried about reelection and election time than to step up to the plate and just say what needs to be said.

So……..

Just what do you suggest we do, go over there, hold hands and sing we are the world or some such leftist psycho-dribble lunacy?

If so, then be my guest!

I’ll laugh my a$$ off while they cut your flipping head off. You cannot reason with these people they have sworn to convert us or kill us.

profiling may be the answer, as politically incorrect as it is. the only problem with profiling in the united states is, if one innocent person who fits the profile is harrassed, then the system is wrong. it's easier in a country like israel, where there are distinct lines drawn.. you're israeli, or you're not. if you're not, you're seen as a threat. in the u.s., how can you determine if someone is an american? my family's ancestors didn't look, talk or act like 'americans' when they got off the boat. but my parents were born here, i was born here, i'm american.. if my family happened to come from a middle eastern country, i fit the profile, even though i'm as american as they get.
i remember a line from a history class in high school a teacher used to preach on (granted, this teacher was indeed a tree-hugging, aged hippy, clinging to the '60's!) but the line made sense....

"i may not agree with your position, in fact, i may abhor your position. but i'll defend your position with my life, because we're americans."

The Unabomber, Ted K (I am not even going to try and spell that last name), was a white, American born, U.S. citizen. Guess what, he bombed airplanes.

Tim McVeigh was a decorated U.S. Army verteran who blew up a buch of children because he was mad at the government.

Eric Rudolph was a white, middle class American.

Three of the most notorious terrorists in the US, behind the 9/11 gang, were white Americans. How do you profile them?

Here’s a novel idea!

Here’s a novel idea!

Why not let folks who are licensed to carry concealed weapons carry on planes?

Why not create (since all liberals like license schemes and registration lists) a federal CCW license, once you have this license have several “certified” locations where you can go and take classes on carry specific to air travel, then let’em carry on the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** jet!

For some polluted reason more and more people think that just because you are a cop that some how makes you absolutely safe to carry weapons in places where mere mortals cannot. As most folks I know who carry and shot often can attest, some of the worst shots you’ll find on any given range carry badges.

I have three cops on my immediate family and all of them can testify that the amount of “formal” training they were given in firearms when they completed their respective “police academy” was all of one week!

They qualify twice a year and they all save that more than one half of the officers on the force they work for one fire their weapons then, they never practice beyond that and at any given range session there are numerous cops who have to shoot the qualification course several times.

And say what you will about the air marshals they are probably some of the best shots law enforcement but they will NEVER be able to cover all commercial flights, EVER!

Let me get this straight:

The government announces it's going to cut back on Air Marshals because there's not such a big threat. Then suddenly, there's a big threat. Now instead of cutting back, they're hiring more.

Coincidence?

We didnt know that these people where our ememy, but we know who the enemy is now. There making it public that they are.

There out there, there just waiting for the oportunity. Dont get me wrong, Im not one of those that is a fatalist and I'm looking out of my window questioning every little thing I see, but I remember when I was working in the airlines, in DCA of all places, and the TSA worker let me through to the gate after I went and got something to eat and he just gave me the wave, he didnt want to see my ID, and I said to him,
"do you want to see my ID" he said in a uninterested manner, no.

So just becuase I had a uniform on, it was all good.

Its this lack of attention and the new rules from the TSA, the falsehood that the TSA is operating on that is very discouraging.

So you can get an E ticket, a fake ID and you to can get the big wave from your friendly TSA representative.

It has to change, and the people in charge are not footing the bill.

There is a simple solution.

If FDR and the government in the early 40's where the way we are today, we would drawing up santions with Japan and Germany to this day.

Stay out of there country and politics and they will probably stay out of ours. But we need the oil, as an Airline Pilot I know this, and the decisions my "representative's" in the government have made havent been in the best interest of the people they are supposed to represent. The problem with US policy in the Middle East didnt start on 9/11/01, thats just when it was brought to most of America's attention.

news flash

Hate to break the news to you, but profiling is already happening. Atleast that's the only possible reason I get selected EVERYTIME I ride in the back of a plane since 9/11.

As far as I can tell here are the profile criteria:
1. Middle aged American male
2. Airline pilot
3. Successfully passed FAA background check
4. Access to bypass door, but not using it because I'm off duty
5. Spends countless hours in the cockpit of commercial aircraft, but no need to search on the way to work, only if on vacation and wanting to sit in cabin.

If you look Middle Eastern and get out of your seat during a critical phase of flight and I am there, you die, by whatever means I have available, up to and including grabbing your trachea and pulling it out of your neck.

I am sure I will do this while the rest of the plane either joins in or at least cheers me on.

WHAT??? NO WAY!

No Bruce!

How many more freedoms do we have to give up for these yahoos?

How about locking down the borders? No greencards! Everybody go home. In California during the great depression all non-resident workers were sent back to their country of origin to protect jobs for American workers!

For a change we should worry about our own country before we go around trying to solve the world's problems. In case Pres. Bush hasn't noticed, there is higher unemployment than there has been in 3 decades. The economy is in deep recession and Greenspan's only tool (interest rates) does not seem to be kicking it in the butt this time.

Let's get our house in order first, then we can go back to taking in everybody's "wretched refuse yearning to be free". In the meantime lets get out of foreign-oil (or at least middle-eastern oil). Lets find an environmentally friendly way to drill in the alaskan frontier. Lets require all auto manufacturers to use hybrid cars by 2010.

We can bankrupt the middle east, stay the heck OUT of their countries, and be done with them in less than a decade! They (radical muslim) think we're too materialistic? No problem. Lets let their countries sit on some useless oil wells for 50 years and maybe they'll change their mind about the way they want to interact with the rest of the world.

I'm TIRED of giving things up. I'm TIRED of having my shoes searched. I'm TIRED of little kids being wanded. I'm TIRED of not being able to use the lav in flight. I'm TIRED of secret passwords in DCA. I'M TIRED of every single pilot I have known from my youth struggling to kick-start their careers after their 2nd, 3rd. or 4th furlough! I'M TIRED of listening to the nightly news and hearing story after story about how these morons have nothing better to do than formulate new ways to SCARE us so they can go to heaven and be rewarded by their 40 virgins.

Where are their men of peace? In every country and every religion there are men of peace who rises up and works towards cooperation, friendship. Where is Muslim's Jimmy Carter? Where is Muslim's Mother Theresa? Heck, i'd even settle for Muslim's Jessie Jackson??!!

They hate us that bad? Fine. Get out of our country and stick your oil where the sun don't shine! If, however, the Muslim nations want to get their act together and learn to be a PART of the new world economy then they need only get a handle on their extremeists, STOP playing messages of hate on Al'Jazeera, and learn that regardless of how much they love their religion it is not necessary that the entire world convert to Islam.

(Sorry...had to vent. Security at G/A ramps...sheesh)

American isolationism helped start World War II.

This is what 'the Klan' and Louis Farakhan do, guys. Now the TSA and pilots too, huh? You have every right to think this, as long as you don't act on it. I think some of you act on it, though.
