Does anyone know of any online resources for completeing the ground portion of the high altitude endorsement? I found the king schools online one...but 250$ is about twice what it would cost to just sit down with a flight instructor. I'm looking for an affordable way to get the ground portion done. Thanks.

Hey sky rocket, he didnt ask if you cared. He asked for advice. Leave your misery elsewhere.

I got mine through the FAA wings program. Call oak city or look online and see if they are planning on doing one near you. Took a day and it was free.

sky rocket...did you sign up just for one post?? sad...really sad.

firefly...don't pay $250 for a King course. Ask your local FSDO about any local ground school stuff - help out a fellow CFI and pay them since they're working hard to make some cash. Its not a tough thing, just a couple hours of your time, but not 250 dollars worth of it!

My CFI buddy had his and we got together (with beer) and completed the ground portion.

Cost to me: a 6 pack.

See...it is soooo much cheaper than John & Martha. Plus you don't have to watch their antics!

Thanks everyone....I'm looking at doing the high altitude chamber ride at a local AF base. Apparently the training along with the associated ground training qualifies for the requirement. 50$ or so...

So Firefly are you gonna be able to go into the hyperbaric chamber?? I've been through survival training and they always show the videos of the chamber when we discuss hypoxia and decompression sickness stuff...

Ride the Chamber!

I would highly recomend the chamber ride. Lot's of good info and a worth while experience for anybody who has any chance of flying above 10,000 MSL. I believe the the course covers the ground portion of the endorsement. Try to get a few friends to go with, it'll be a lot more fun!

hey pilotpat, you need to check out some of these websites www.gotohell.com or www.urlowerthanmagetsballs.com you would really enjoy them. i dont know any gay websites for you because i am strait and you can find your own gay porn for yourself.

Ummm...okay - you must have a couple screws loose bud. If you've got issues that force you to post crap like this, you're in dire need of help. By the way - I'm straight....maybe strait is what you are, but....

Is there a website out there that has a list of all the places where you can take a chamber ride for this endorsement?

It's at the bottom of the link already provided, under participating military bases.

http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/a...logy/index.cfm

It does not give you the endorsement, only fulfills the ground instruction portion. You still need to complete the flight portion and have an instructor endorse your logbook.

Fire Fly,

Are you looking to do it just to have it? The altitude chamber is very good experience and I recommend it. However I fail to see why you are looking for the endorsement. Any airplane that you may fly that requires the endorsement will most likely require you to attend school for the airplane, or at least get aircraft specific instruction to meet the insurance requirements.

I would save my money and get the endorsement when you do the sim training, or checkout, which most likely will be on somebody elses tab, or if you are the owner of such an airplane, included in the training cost.

do the chamber ride, so the next time youre farting around at 10,000' and start feeling weird for whatever reason you will have a first hand idea if it is hypoxia related or not, regardless if you get the endorsement or not.
