Not yet... I've been applying since 1999 at both FedEx and UPS but I don't have an internal rec at UPS (I don't know anyone who's even gone over there) and I only have 2 of the 3 I need for FedEx. Still working on a CAL internal rec, one or two buddies from sitting reserve here at PCL went to ATA then to CAL so I'm hoping to hear back from one of them shortly.pipejockey said:Lear70, with all that time hasn't FedEx, UPS, or CAL called you for an interview?? I think you are above JetWho.
You mean you actually have to know someone at JB? How fair is that? Where is the equal opportunity? Blah blah blah... I thought I would add that since that is usually a staple in FDX hiring threads. Socal if you have MD11 time you should be a shoe in with us if we are hiring into the right seat directly.Network . . . is there anybody you know at JetBlue? Get online recs.

A LOT of my friends here at PCL have gone to jetBlue, not many to other places. Still working on it and like Mark said, something will give EVENTUALLY somewhere.![]()

From talking with folks who know folks:
Network . . . is there anybody you know at JetBlue? Get online recs.
Go to an AIR INC or WIA or whatever convention and make a good impression.
Keep updating online.
Can you add something to make yourself stand out? ALPA committee work, or mentoring, or the masters degree your working on, or charity work, or teaching judo, or check airman, or that flight department special project, or getting the scout troop their aviation badge. Something.
No promises, but these should improve your chances.
Happy hunting . . .
Oh -- and don't put "Jet Blue Airlines" on your resume. Don't look good to not know the name of the company you say is your dream soul mate for life. It's "JetBlue Airways."
I have to say, jetBlue does hire the biggest cross-section of aviators I've ever seen. Every friend I've had whose interviewed there always says there are equal numbers charter, corporate, military, and 121 furloughed and 121 regional peeps at the interview.Skygod said:To be clear: I don't mean that. Having an online recommendation may improve you chances, but it is in no way a requirement. From the little I've seen, I'd say JetBlue goes out of its way for equal opportunity hiring. No one small group is favored or shut out.
Tell you what, how about I put it in escrow, and if I get the interview AND get the job, you get the $$$.B727-100QF said:$10,000 for a recommendation, $20,000 to say that I actually know you! Cash only.
zonker said:You are either
1) a troll who wants to pretend that you work at UPS. (The smart money goes here)
or
2) an idiot who works at UPS and wants to chest beat on the forum about it.
Either way, you're on the ignore list.[/quote]
What a frickin wimp!!
Lear70 said:Applied via faxed resume the very first month they started operations and advertised on climbto350.com for pilots. 3,000 Total Time, 1,500 PIC Jet at the time.
Applied via online application when it came online in 2003. Again with the new one in 2004. Updated every 30-60 days for the last two years.
Now at a little over 7,000 hours total time, typed in 4 jet aircraft, over 4,000 hours PIC Part 121 jet, about 10 internal recommendations, attended 1-2 AIR, Inc job fairs a year for the last 7 years.
No phone call yet.
I think I hold the record for longest time of application in with no interview call. Maybe I should play the lottery.![]()
