First post here, just wanted to say hi. I fly Hawkers and Lears (91/135) out of southern California. Looks like there's a wide range of knowledge and experience here. Look forward to getting and giving some. Take care.:)

hi hawker guy...I'm not the welcome wagon here on this forum...but I think I can say hi and welcome aboard.

Wtfo?

Hi, how's it goin' man? Thanks for the welcome. Although, I have to say, that's an interesting first question....?? :D

To answer your question, YES, I friggin' love bbq. The best place I've been to in this great Country is, Jack Stack in Kansas City. I kinda consider myself a little bit of a bbq fanatic.

Stuff

BBQ is a favorite of many folks, here. Just sad there aren't too many truly great BBQ
joints out here in L.A. Welcome, none the less.

Like transmach said it is a favorite topic around here. Well if you like BBQ, religion, politics, and last but not least...Aviation you will love this board. Welcome again...

Hawker Guy. Again welcome aboard. I have to concur with you on the Kansas City Bar-B-Q. Others I would suggest in the KC area include, Gates, Arthur Bryants, Smokestack LC's., et al. If you fly into MKC, Gates and Arthur Bryants are within five miles of the airport. If you desire further info please advise. Hemispheres

There was a place up the road from CRG field that had great BBQ...wish I could remember the name of that place, but it was a lifetime ago.

Bad (bad as in bad, not good) BBQ

OK, Mates,

We often review good BBQ, but here's the back side.

We just got finished with the left overs from a Saturday night visit to a local BBQ
joint, not thought to be the best.

Well, I'll tell you. You can always best judge BBQ by the left overs. And these spell
it out. B.A.D.

If I were you, I'd avoid "The Bear's Pit" in North Hills, CA (Sepulveda to some). North,
Central San Fernando Valley.

I would't speak up, but that's three for three in the dumper.

I'm having BBQ tonight!!! :p

Had Argentinian grill last night... good stuff! Highly recommend! Best part? BYOB restaurant. No overpriced wine. Excellente!

Welcome!

We talk about the things that pilots talk about, some of which have been mentioned.

Barbeque. Thank God for it. :D

Welcome!

If you're ever in MSP, they have a Famous Daves BBQ in the terminal that you can enjoy while waiting for your connection.

On a side note...We're you really on "American Idol"?!

Last week, Food TV devoted much of the programming to BBQ. Alton Brown reviewed cookers/smokers, and came up with his own, which I inted to try next week. He got 2 clay pots, flower pots, put an electric grill in the bottom of one, placed a pan on it with smoking wood, placed a grill inside the pot, pork on the grill, second pot on top. Looked really cool. Recipe sounded good too. Good explanation.
I'll let you know about it when I do it. Have to wait to move in to new house.

Idol I'm not....

Yeah, famous Dave's is alright. I'm in Denver now, but I don't think I'll have time for bbq. I'll be in San Antonio tonight, anyone know of a good bbq joint there??

Sup Matt, nice to see you here.

To answer the above question, no, I was not on Idol. I was thinkin' bout trying out, but I'm a year past the cut-off age. I'm working on a music career though. Talking with some songwriters and producers now. Trying to get a really good demo cut. I do have a few cheesy recordings on my website if you want to check 'em out.:o http://www.seanarcher.com

Late.

Hawkerguy,

I realize you're new, so I'll let you in on a little secret about this site. From now on, when you look up and see contrails, just think of BBQ. When you read about contrails here, write about BBQ. Keep that in mind when you're perusing the threads.

You said you were in DEN the other night? You DID you wear your foil hat, right?

Welcome!

Here's another secret:

Even if you are a good singer (you are) I still wouldn't post a link to your site, you are looking to get bashed hardcore. If it doesn't bother you, power to ya. Just a warning these folks can get pretty harsh.

If you are looking for an informative and useful message board (such as www.airliners.net), look elsewhere, most of the prominent members here are 13 year olds on their mom's computers. :D

Welcome Aboard!

Hello hawkerguy!

If you're in MEM, you have to go to Corky's BBQ on Poplar Avenue. Another place is The Rendezvous BBQ in downtown.

San Antonio BBQ

Hey Hawkerguy! Welcome to the board! I know you said you were going to be in San Antonio tonight. Rudy's BBQ is a pretty good place. I think there are 2 of them in San Antonio. http://www.rudys.com It good BBQ, great atmosphere, and probably the best that I have found when I've been to San Antonio. Take care and let us know if you make it there tonight! See ya!

Any good BBQ within walking distance of the Airport Marriott in MCI? What do you guys think about Bandana's in STL?

I've been watching the recently added "birthday bar" (for want of a better term) at the bottom of the main forum page, and I see far fewer 13 year olds than I expected. :D

Tonight I was BBQing ribs and I fried a mouse in my grill....Ummmmm tasty.

When in PHX...HONEY BEARS for good BBQ!

Easy to find, Go past the Hookers, two blocks east of Mesa Airlines HQ (where do you think they get their FA's?) and your there!

Didn't make it

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I didn't make it out to bbq last night. My passengers took me out to this steak house called the "Palms", in downtown San Antonio. I'll have to check those places out next time. Headin' to Monterey tomorrow, gonna have to hit Tarpys. Not a bbq joint (I'm probably gonna get it for this one) , but great food.;)

Big Duke Six. No BBQ within walkin distance of MCI. There is one within five miles called Smoke Box BBQ. Not to shabby either. Hemispheres.
