Fubi, you can't control yourself dude, you just have to throw stones at anyone Alaska competes with??

Wow, just a little thin skinned, eh, Dan? I'm not throwing stones, just stating facts.

Are you or are you not cancelling the PDX-OGG service?
Are you or are you not putting in SJC-OGG and OAK-OGG to compete with Alaska?

Its a simple question, really. Don't get so upset. I guess you're tired of reading the poster in the HAL gates in OAK advertising nonstop OAK-OGG when all you can offer customers is OAK-HNL-OGG.

No problem, Dan.

You're making a ton of money with the HNL-Far East service. More power to you.

Don't fall into the SWA trap. Just because someone points out some facts, doesn't mean they're throwing stones OR hating on you. In fact, I'm all about the rumor that AS will buy HAL.

We'll even give you no fenced DoH. That means your widebody Capts will get a pay raise. Let's do it!

Getting ready for the Red Belly Money Makers to show up?

That thought occurred to me, but I really don't think it's preemptive. I saw an analyst report talking about SWA coming to Hawaii and it specifically said they would create their own market with their own feed and wouldn't effect Hawaiian. It's a big market, we are well established and have an obvious marketing advantage.
Keep in mind that the seat mile costs are higher on a 737 800 than a 767 or A330 and if your going to sell yourselves as the airline that doesn't charge for bags you could have some pretty serious problems flying a 737 to Hawaii on a lot of routes.
We have a lot of places we can go to and fill up 767's and A330's, there is plenty of room for you in the market with your own route system feeding you.
As a niche carrier we also have the advantage of fewer frequent fliers as part of the load factor

Fair enough, we are actually making money in more than the Asia flying, we make a lot more money filling up a wide body to Hawaii than a 737 would and you guys seem to be happy coming to Hawaii. Although some say your Hawaii operation is basically a break even operation that is in place for your frequent fliers. I really don't know and you don't either.

Yes we are dropping PDX OGG. We will now fill up a 767 (soon to be Airbus? not sure) to HNL with all high yield tickets and take them to OGG on a 717. I don't second guess the bean counters and the people responsable for yield management.

Fubi, with all due respect your posts attacking SWA have, in my mind, seem to indicate a pretty confrontational attitude on your part. It carried over.

Not necessarily. Just tweaking the egotists in Canyon Blue. Frankly, I think the world of HAL and LOVE the rumor of an AS/HAL merger.

Just put a parka on the Hawaiian girl and you have the PERFECT tail logo!

I hate to be the bearer (sp?) of bad news but that hot looking girl on the tail of our airplanes was kinda of turned off by that gnarly looking guy on yours!

All kidding aside, Hawaiians worth is really as Hawaiian Air serving Hawaii. We would lose most off what makes us successful if that went away.

I don't think that would go anywhere. AS appreciates service to small cities/towns/villages. Its in our DNA. Just like its in yours.

Not to dampen your widebody dreams Fubi, but we are hearing rumors too of a possible close "friendship" with HAL, and since they have A330s and 767ERs like we do, and also do Japan flying from Hawaii that is open to anyone (except slot controlled airports), it might might be plausible. Throw in the rumor that Airtran/Southwest could dump their 717s with someone I know interested in 100 seaters, and HAL having the same type....... It just sounds more likely if you already fly the same types of planes....

Godspeed to you and Dan!

Well, since we're already the biggest DAL feeder, a three way would be appropriate!

IAD has higher RASM than JFK and has no HNL service... The CO EWR flight can often be less than full on some days...

Maybe Delta would feed them European traffic at JFK? I wish DL would add service too, but Hawaiian has that feed in Hawaii to the other islands. Maybe DL is watching to see if that type of service is viable? DL does want to win NYC.....

Godspeed!

OYS

Maybe that could be true, and you, me, and Capt Dan can fly A330s out of HNL to SYD! Good Aye Mates!

Well, I have a sneaking suspicion you guys would play the "career expectations" card and keep me off the widebodies.

But that's OK. I'd be happy finishing my career on the NG as long as its at MY pay rate and not yours.

LOL!

Maybe I am missing something, but checking the "other" pilot site and HAL's year 1 captain pay is $187 (12th year= $191) while your (ALK's) year 12 captain pay is $177...

I think he was comparing Alaska to Hawaiians NB rate which tops out at $162 at year 12 for Captains and $113 for FO's.
