What does it tell you about this shell game that Skywest pilots are being told that their 50 seat costs are too high and if they don't drop them they will lose 50 seaters to us?
quote]

There isn't one shread of this sentence that is true, we are running classes of 70 every 3 weeks for the rest of the year and hiring an additional 300 pilots. If you really did hear this, and not just made it up, the person you heard it from is as stupid as you are clueless.

See you all at ATL Flight Safety next month, we just don't have enough sim time here at SLC.

Well, it came from one of your senior Captains. And if you think that JA isn't going to try to get your 50 seaters a paycut at some point YOU are the one that is clueless.

Good ASA pilots let the hate flow through you. Us other airlines such as comair can't wait to get some of dat flying even if it is in da atl.

Yeah, I guess you would be excited about ATL flying since CHQ is operating more and more of yours in CVG ehh?

Ok, then how bout this REAL number. After taking a 13.5% paycut, the 70 seat FO position would pay less than the 50 seat FO position. What does it tell you about this shell game that Skywest pilots are being told that their 50 seat costs are too high and if they don't drop them they will lose 50 seaters to us?

And no, I don't hate ASA, and I don't hate my job. I do hate the idiots in charge here that couldn't find their way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and a jackhammer.
read your latest ALPA e-mail...

"...for the first officers, management proposes the current book CR2 pay rate, which results in a 13.5% pay cut."

As a side note, I've tried four different ways to calculate that percentage and th result is 9.5-11%. Again, not acceptable, but if someone more enlightened could explain how 13.5% was determined it would be appreciated.

Really? I have heard nothing of the sort...

The rumors in this industry could be turned into a soap opera: "As the Prop Turns"

I am currently an ASA pilot that will be putting in his 2 week notice this week. I love the people I fly with but just can't stand coming to work every week. I took a corporate job where I live making more money and better benefits, not to mention no commute. I was holding 3on 4 off commutable schedules with weekends off, and gave it up. It just was not worth it anymore to me. I loved ASA when I started 5 years ago but this industry is just not what it used to be and never will be. I decided to cut my losses while I was young.

The flood gates have opened. To all of those that are leaving best of luck. It is a shame that a pilot group like this is being torn apart over pennies on the dollar. Maybe mgmt will wake up someday and see the problem they have created.

Dont think so!

And if you think that JA isn't going to try to get your 50 seaters a paycut at some point YOU are the one that is clueless.

Here is why. JA has one thing in mind right now and that is to show his guys (non union) and us (union) just how bad the union is. He will build up Skywest regardless of our pay scale with aircraft and raises just to prove that the union causes the problems. He will take away from us even if we are less costly than our Skywest counterparts just to prove a point. The more the union pisses him off, the more the point is driven home. We are in a no win situation anyway we look at it. Our only real way out is for the Skywest guys to vote in the union and press for solidarity, if not we are screwed.:uzi:

what is the deal with SLC closing. I'm a bit fuzzy on it. Are we losing some of our 700s? I've been in training for a while and trying to get back up to speed.

In favor by the way

I think that Skywest / ASA need to get their sh!t in a pile or the Delta flying goes up for bids.

D'Angelo = ASA / Skywest managment not Comair

In the short term I agree with you. But anyone who really believes that the Skywest pilots aren't next on the block is fooling themselves. And it will be the same story used here. "you are too expensive, if we can't control costs we are going to lose flying". It has happened EVERY time one company has had more than one pilot group, and this time will be no different. And the Skywest pilots have nothing to help hold the line. JA cound walk in tomorrow and cut their pay, and there is nothing that they could do about it.

Even though you personally would love to fly some struck work and become a scab, your pilot group wont. Too bad you are too ignorant to realize what unity in a pilot group is all about. You have obviously never been part of something bigger than yourself, and that is your loss.

Im not saying I or we would fly struck work. All Delta has to do is cancel your contract and there is no flying to come back to. It isnt struck work if it isn't your flying anymore. If you don't provide feed like the contract says then it can be voided. I haven't and don't have a particular desire to fly struck work. Once the flying is up for bid though game on.

Unless our certificate is surrendered and we are completely out of business it IS still truck work, and there is an argument that it would continue to be struck work. That is like saying that if the UAW workers struck, and the company fired them, that the replacement workers would not be performing struck work. But you go right ahead and fly it, lets see how many airlines offer you a job when CMR goes under.

Ya, go fly struck work and see how much love you get in the future. OH BOY.....ATL-MCN!!!!!!

Why in the world dont you people shut up or get out? If it sucks so bad for you crybabies, I've got a job for you...

For the benefit of someone who is either too lazy to read the thread or just trying to stir sh!t here are a few replies to your oh so eloquent question:

You have actually no idea what it takes to get hired right now. dang idiot. I hate people that say, "Why don't you just quit if it's that bad". Ya, let's just quit and go from HAVING MONEY....to having NO MONEY!! Health insurance to having NO HEALTH INSURANCE. Jesus, don't you get that man?? I'm talking about how BAD things are at ASA and I hate the situation that I'm in and many others in my position. Hey, if you know 5 internal FEDEX pilots to help me out with one having the pleasure of being my SPONSOR.....WHY THE F**** didn't you say so!!!! I've been sitting around scratching my head on WHY the hell I haven't been hired now. Hell, I filled out a FEDEX application!!! What gives!!??? How about the 8K 737 type? S*** why the f**** didn't you say that I'd be GAURANTEED a job at SWA or you'd volunteer the money on the HOPE OF A dang INTERVIEW!!!! What's great is watching everyones faces (what 1000 guys packed into 2 rooms??) at the last SWA jobfair as they GAVE AWAY INTERVIEWS!!! Like it wasn't hard enough to get one in the first place, they slap our faces with freaking giving them away!!!??? You should of been there to witness that. I thought some were going to throw up. Now, I"ve been trying to get into CO for over a year now, but S***, why the f**** didn't you tell me that you can give me an internal rec or have someone walk my stuff in. Now, if you can't do all that for me ......shut the F*** up. Morons like you are happy about getting 14K a year while spanking your pud telling your mommy how you're flying a cool little JET. Hell, it's a step up from the C-172 that you just flew last month. So, what you got to say moron??

Dude, the people you are responding to are most likely trying to get the f*ck out of ASA. I dare say about 90% of the pilots at ASA would pack up and leave if one of those joints you listed above called. Easier said than done. If you haven't noticed getting hired elsewhere requires a lot more than just filling out an application and submitting it. I would compare your post to someone sitting in traffic screaming at the person in front of them to go when there is a long line of stopped cars in front of them.

I'm no fan of mgmt, but if you keep throwing out BS numbers you are no better than they are. Mgmt is asking for the current 50 seat FO scale to apply across the board. The rookie still gets his 19.02/hr. Granted it should be higher and is not ehough to survive on. At least post the real numbers, not some dreamed up bs.

$14,500 is almost exactly what my W2 showed for 11 months of work last year. I actually took a pay cut from unempoyment bennies when I started working at ASA.

Gator, the company has proposed that all 70 seat FO’s take a 13.5% pay cut. We have first year FO’s on the 70, thus the $19.05 they get per hour would be reduced to $16.48. If the company succeeds in their pay cuts, the 70 seat FO’s would get paid less than the 50 seat FO’s. This would probably cause the 70 seat to go junior, thus almost guaranteeing a new FO 14.5K for first year pay.

Hopefully if there is a pay cut, 1st year pay will be excluded. The current company proposal that was on Flica and the proposal ALPA has sent via the Negotiators Notepad, have not indicated that 1st year pay would be exempt.

Gator, this is your livelihood, you must look at the details and assume nothing.

go back and read post #35 I'll summarize:

Once again read your latest E-mail from ALPA (you've got to open the acrobat file). It states right at the bottome that the company is proposing "current CR2 book rates for all first officers."

Continue to spin all you want and make up numbers the fact is the proposal is for 19.02/hr. I know you want to paint the company in the worst light possible, but you do the union more harm than good by posting pure BS.

Gator, I will look for that. If you are correct then I stand corrected. My intent is not to post BS. And, I am not trying to paint the company in the worst possible light, they are doing that themselves.

I feel that when SkyWest Purchase ASA, we had a chance to get a fresh start. That chance has passed us by and now we are just like any other regional in the race to bottom wages and more importantly poor customer service.

For the record I DO NOT hate ASA, my previous airline managed it's self much worse than ASA. Thankfully ASA has not killed any pilots during my time here.
