A 'Brazilica'... I didn't know they flew those!

It's also a metal band from Sao Paulo. They have songs like: "A Bateria" and "O mestre de Cãozinho". ;)

Gulfstream has a few E120s. Those are not flown by GTA students (those guys only fly the B1900). But still, let's not turn this thread into bashing GTA.

really? Then why do they have the 30 grand version for the 1900 and 60 grand version for the emb120?

I heard that they don't hire their PFT FO's as captains but only off the street captains. Basically, you pay 30k for 200 hrs, then once your 200 hrs are up u pay another 30k for another 200 hrs, and so on. I hear that a lot of Gulfstream PFT FO's are having major issues in training once they get a job at a regional. Im not BSing either...

Here we go....

Yes they are.

Really? The 1900 isn't 30K last time I checked. The current agreed price between the student and GTA goes for either aircraft. There is NO 60K program. If you are going to be one of the people bashing GIA or GTA, then at least know what you are talking about.

Well, I guess I can't be a Captain then. Because I was an FO at GIA. They only hire street Captains when they need to raise the staffing. And its not 200 hours, its 250 hours. Last time I heard you were having trouble getting it up. So sorry little man.

Whats with all these Shiny Jet Syndrome wanna-be's poking fun at others? You can't be happy with your permanent FO position at your 20 dollar-an-hour job?

Id rather get paid 23 an hr in my first year and 30's in my second than PAY 30,000k TO FLY A BEECH 1900 and be a flight attendant for 250 hrs. How much do u make as a BEECH 1900 CA at guflstream again??????

I fly a 1900 and I think you are a whore too!!!!!
And the FO thing wasn't so permanent!!!!
Maybe I have "mostly beat-up turboprop syndrome"!!!

wow.....so funny that a few weeks ago, a similar situation happened with xjet, no bashin there, but here.........whats up with that?

job well done to the gulfstream crew!!

added bashing the moron who never gets laid

And you think that it is better to accept a job at more than 50% sub par wage than to pay money as PART OF YOUR PRIMARY TRAINING COST and recieve the highest pay industry wide for your type aircraft? Are you on crazy pills? Good luck upgrading in 15 years.

BTW I can make up to 60K a year as a Captain if I worked my butt off. 40K taking it easy. Kinda the same as your aircraft pay.

60K- 8-10 days off
40K- 15 days off ( and I can get that and more every month)

My total training cost is less than 50K. That includes Private-CFII and GTA program. My degree will cost around 20K (still workin on it)

So what are your numbers? Let me guess.....120K to Riddle, another 20K to finish flight training where Riddle left off, and a five year FO job only to be traded to the lowest bidder later. Oops, sorry! Or maybe you just spent 80K at DCI or FSI and think you know it all now! Which is exactly how you act!

People still doing "primary training" should NOT be hauling passengers for a part 121 carrier.

GIA for a while were trying to get people to pay their way into captain too. you would pay 30 grand to be fo or pay 60 and they would make you captain.

GIA wanted to be an ALL PFT AIRLINE. Are the FA's pfts?

Russian-

Let it go. You're going to have an aneurysm. Remember:

- No company will EVER hire you if you have worked there.
- No one leaves the place to go anywhere decent.
- The skills you develop at a place like GIA will not make you a better "systems manager", only a better "pilot"

And yes, I believe the F/A's are PFT as well as the CFO. Oh, and a few of the schedulers and dispatchers as well. And maybe a maintenance guy and a gate agent. But I'm not sure.

The 120 sure looked like it had tires. What was the problem?

The XJT aircraft had no left main tires. Huge difference.

Its was an old ASA aircraft. It was already worn out when they got it. What else do you expect?

Does he have to pay an extra 10K for real emergency training?

Sorry.. had to :)

Which major does your daddy work for?

BTW, FO in a 121 operation is NOT part of PRIMARY FLIGHT TRAINING. There are jobs out there that pay you to perform those duties. There are no jobs that pay someone to build cross country time or get a certificate. That is why it's called PRIMARY training....of which 121 flying is not.

And before you ask, I can get it up just fine, I work 1/2 as much as you and make twice as much. And I work for a regional.

Now I see why the surveys that list flight instructor pay were so inflated..... At say 50K per Gulfstream instructor... er .. "captain"...that's a big bump to the typical 15K instructor...

More comments spoken proudly by my fellow members at the After School Airline....

I can think of several of our fellow pilots (capts & f/os) that are all former members of "The Stream," should ASA not have hired them as well?

Ignorance is bliss...

When ExpressJet goes tango uniform, you will work 100% less, although unemployment pays better than GIA.

Yep N283AS... Got a few hours in that one. Seemed like that had very little airflow in the cockpit with a post mod, mod of it's electrical system. No wait, that was all of them..

I flew on Gulfstream a few weeks ago from Tampa to Key West on a 1900. I was impressed. From the gate agents to the flight crew, to the flight itself, it was very smooth and professional. I have flown on a few so-called "real" regionals, that I can safely say, were not as professionally operated.

And no, I do not work, or have ever worked for Gulfstream.
