look here you yahoos. one more time. i am NOT advocating one over the other. they are all on the same level. 1000 a month sucks, but in as little as a few weeks, you can be in the twins flying for the same amount of money as all the other operators in DFW.

if someone were to come on here slamming any of the other three as being better or worse than the rest, i would be posting the same way. i ought to know, i have personally worked for all four of them in one capacity or another, be it directly, as a contract pilot, or simply covering a route for one of them becasue all their dam planes were flying, broke, or gounded by the FAA.

...have a nice day :)

Hurt my feelings? Not hardly. You didn't call me on it, just tried to duck the issue by shifting focus to my vocabulary...your arguments are weak, so you pull the tactic of all poor conversationalists, and change the subject.

So, you've worked for all four, now I see why you're so defensive. Can't do any better than flying for GTA, so you feel like a slam at one is a slam at you? Sucks to be you, man if you weren't smart enough to learn your lesson with one sh*tty operator, then no wonder you're the "expert".

Not only are you a tool, but you're a tool for a suck a** company. What a loser.

Duderino and I will mix you up some more Kool-Aid, and then it's naptime, ok?

You suck wingnutt. Why don't you go pop some back pills and avoid your wife. You are a miserable old man, with 854 post at flightinfo. You are critizing other peoples profile, when you won't even let people know what you do now. Current position should read under Doug's Scrodum. You are the kind of sarcastic douchepump that acts arrogant, that can't even fly. I have met your type. Stick to your "King Air Rating" and go f yourself.
Hell yeah! Amen brother! He's prolly CP with one of the operators, feeling all god-like cause he reigns supreme over POS a/c, and a bunch of kids who haven't had anyone tell them any different. I bet he even thinks he's doing some newhire a "favor" giving them such a great "stepping stone" like GTA. Gimme a break

ummm, no...go back and read. its you who likes to divert attention with name calling. i replied to each and every issue you brought up in my posts. please tell me which issue i "ducked" so i may go forth and redeem myself...you cant because i ducked nothing. nice try though ;)

p*ssies use terms like "issues" :P

You're still a corporate tool...anyone with half a brain can see it, including me. HA!

Hey! Why all the fuss guys? Let me briefly tell you my story and you decide for yourself....In the late 90's, after instructing almost 800 hrs I had 1300 total and could not even get a regional to look at me. A friend of mine got on at GTA and put in a good word for me. I was hired and they agreed to give me $1500.00 a month if I would do a little maintenance work on the side. I did a lot of maintenance at first and then after a few months not much. Yes, Doug and Bonnie are tough sometimes to deal with, but if you show up on time and do your job you won't hear much from them. Yes, the money was low but you have to realize that on a Bonanza, Baron, or 402 the profit margin for flying checks is small. I had friends at the other two companies there at Love Field also, and they complained about their aircraft and pay as well. I would never accept an aircraft that I felt was unsafe. During the 18 months that I was there, our maintenance was pretty good.
Looking back, after flying in all weather day and night, it was the toughest flying job I ever had. It also taught me more about flying and being a commercial pilot that any other place, before or since, for that I am greatful. There is no substitute for experience. I know many of the pilots (guys and gals) that flew there have gone on to fly for the majors, nationals and regionals....You'll need that experience someday when your flying in the dark of night with a full load passengers above the snow-capped Western Montana mountains when the weather is low and your first officer points out an electrical problem or that the deice system does not appear to be working or one of many other problems that could test your skills.........Ah memories........sorry for the book!.....Thanks for listening and Have a Merry CHRISTmas!

welcome supercrew, sounds like you and i had identical experiences.

and oh yea...lookout pilot guy, he must be another corporate stooge!!! :p

GTA French Cap ee tin?

Many moons ago I remember one memorable flight on GTA while hitching a ride from HOU to DAL that was hard to forget. A French captain (forget his name but could never forget the accent) was nice enough to let me ride a long since I needed to get into Dallas for a meeting early the next morning. If only I knew what I was in for, should have been a red flag when he mentioned a few mx stories about a couple abnormal and emergency situations that got him during his time at GTA. To make a long story short I knew I was in for somewhat of an eventful ride when he lit up a smoke on taxi out and was still working on the weight and balance papers as we we're cleared into position and rolled onto 12R at HOU. I don't think I ever laughed as hard as I did that night, the sad thing is that this situation probably should not have been viewed as overly comical and could have possibly turned into a disaster.:D I wish I could remember this dude's name, anyone know if this particular French captain is still among the ranks at GTA present day?. Funny guy, chain smoker, and someone who is hard to forget!.

youre on the wrong track...read the title above the pic

...and 350, youre gonna hafta give a year as people funnel thru there all the time.

This would have been 98' 99' when he was captain there. I would probably assume he has moved on by now but thought it may be worth a long shot.....

I forgot the scumbags name. He shafted me. Typical cowardly french puss.y. It was 2001 and I was just out of IOE and had a long night already. I arrived back late after a 10 hour day already. Dispatch told me that I was to fly from DAL to Temple or something(some place I hadn't been yet), then down to HOU and back. I was so tired, and it was already 11pm or so. I went inside and got some coffee and a clearance. I remember I was arguing with the clearance controller about a SID and was frustrated because the controller didn't seem to understand me(full blooded Texan BTW). Finally I realized I was mixing up my words, and got the clearance read back correctly. Went out to the plane, helped load the cargo, started the POS up, and went thru my check list. When I called ground freq. I was given easy instructions, which I had received already many times. I kept getting them wrong. Once I finally got it right I started to head to the runway. Halfway thru the taxi it all started to become very clear that I was unfit to fly. I told ground, and returned. Went into dispatch and told them I was exhausted, and unfit for "over"duty. The little f@& with his earring and his makeup told Dug that I hadn't even gotten a clearance. This got me called onto the carpet.
Your friends name is Phillipe Somethingfrench. Hope this helps. If you see him say hi, because next time I see him he might not be in aviation anymore.

Ahh, yes.

That silly frog found out the hard way that landing a Baron55 with the gear up at Fort Worth Spinks makes for an embarassing taxi- but GTA hired him anyway.

Don't worry. Karma is a b!tch. Maybe I should say karma is a Beech- he boogered up a Bonanza later on.

It's ironic that "douche" is "shower" in French- he is one, yet he doesn't.

Dude,

Phillipe was him name, thanks man... He was not really a friend, more or less just an acquaintance. Was this after he fried the charger and caught the left on fire?. He did appear to be a mover and shaker who liked to smoke quite often in the airplane. I highly doubt I will see him again but thanks for the heads up. I was just a tad curious, nothing more and nothing less.

haha, phillipe was actually promoted, believe it or not...either that or they just wanted to get him off the flight line ;)

he was moved to position of "assistant" chief pilot. even though the chief pilot lived in amarillo and never even saw his own desk

i heard phillipe wasnt there all that long, and moved out east for some other aviation adventure. i think dennis has been made the chief now, and has been for a few years...hes probably the best one theyve ever had, although i dont know why he stays there

Mover and a shaker, no. He was a loser. He was disgusting to look at, about 40 pounds under weight, he looked like he used joint grease instead of soap(seriously), smoked to much, really really liked crappy jazz, and on top of it he was French flying on a visa. Glad I could help you out 350.
Sig, thanks for making my day even better. Karma is a beautiful thing if you respect it. This is a valuable lesson for me.
Happy New Years to all,
Dude

Phillipe had the worst smelling farts on the planet. He could knock a buzzard off of a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** wagon at 300 yards. He moved to the D.C. area and married some girl who is a lawyer. He mails me from time to time, and I think he's out of flying altogether.

Maybe he valued his life and wanted to live thus he got out:D . He is smart, marry a rich b!tch and hang it up.

Got a job at GTA in Jan of 2000. Had 503TT and got paid $800.00 a month. Left there in Nov. of 2000 as an IP making $2000.00/month with 1250tt and 700 hrs multi for ASA and took a pay cut. Made Captain at ASA a year and a half later while the guys at the flight school I worked at were just getting hired at the regionals. About go to AWA. Learned alot about flying around weather, flight planning, fuel planning, working in big airports, class B airspace, and instrument flying. An old retired AA capt named Rox who was a check airman for them, taught me a ton about instrument flying. In my experience, never had a problem with the equipment, was never asked to do anything illegal, or take an airplane that was not airworthy. Showed up on time, did my job, and went home until I had the time to go somewhere else. If you are trying to make a career out of flying, and you aren't getting offers from anyone else, you could do worse. That 135 time is going to look pretty good on your resume compared to guys who just have 91 time. Make yourself as competitive as possible. You will be flying 135 everyday 60 to 80 hours a month, at night and in weather. Airlines like that kind of experience. This is just the path I took, for better or worse. But if you want to eventually go to a large airline, a seniority number is life. Get your time ASAP.

The original poster might give a s.hit. That's who I wrote my experience for. Nothing is going to help at the majors for the forseeable future. But if the original poster of this thread wants to go to SWA, ATA, AWA, JB, or the like, the most likely path will be through the regionals, and 135 time will help get him a job at that level. Airtran requires 500 hrs pic 121 time just to interview. You don't care about getting a 121 job great, but somebody else on here might.

uh-oh, yet another guy who did his time and moved on...must be another stooge

The right main gear retracted on the ramp on that airplane in DAL. two weeks later, aftert a fresh inspection the right wing comes off in Norman, OK. The poor pilot held the mic button down and screamed right up until he hit the ground.

the right lower spar cap separated, followed by the separation of the wing, in clear smooth day VMC.

of course the aircraft was airworthy when it left the Texas Air shop, the log book said so didnt it?

Duderino said:
It wasn't a king air was it? I think it was a Cessna 400 and was a problem with the wing spar caused by the iron side of the turbo. There is an AD for Cessna 400s now because of this problem. Texstar wasn't that bad a place to work. I had fun, and the pilots were a good group of guys. Anyone know if Joiner finally got on with Airlink;)? Hope So.

GTA is a small family run company. I worked there for 1 year as requested when I joned. I had no idea how much I would learn about flying. I did the Hou - Dal run twice and night for 7 months. M-f, 3pm -1 am. 6 hours of multi per night. The epuiptment was ruff but the engines were well taken care of. Mostly because of Rox's power managenmt program that was in effect.

Here's what makes it hard for most people. Understanding that if you don't fly then the owner has to. He really has been doing it too long. And if you complain then you give bonnie a stoamch ache and she has too much to worry about with 15 other kids on her plate.

I came back to work for them for a few weeks after my corporate job fissled up. I would be flying for them today if they had a houston based run.

Get the job done and they will leave you be.

i feel sorry for you dude, i really do. you are a bitter person with a very large axe to grind. im sorry it didnt work out for you and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors...

...case in point

Dont worry Wingnutt, we can all see his bitterness. It dosen't take a rocket scientist to see that he probably couldnt hack it over there, got his pee-pee smacked by Bonnie and decided to take his antics elsewhere. Then realized he should probably clean up his act or Paul would do the same thing to him over there.

But you're absolutely right, it's funny as hell that one could claim that any of the three are any better or worse than the others. If you ask me, having three fatalities at one operator is a whole lot worse than making a few bucks less when the pay matches dollar for dollar to fly the same dam airplane.

Wingnutt was a lot more gracious to you than I would have been there, sparky. Or would you like me to use your real name as there aren't too many bufoons that failed at GTA and went to Texstar :D
