And you got to love the company for offering PFT!!

"GTA has a time-building program for our Barons and Cessna 401's & 402's. This is a pay for training program designed for you to improve your flying skills as well as build flight time. You will be actively participating in all aspects of the flights you are assigned. You may expect to build 60 to 100 hours of time per month."

ok, i will say it again, this time at the top of my post because you seem to be missing it. the pay does suck. but, for a low time guy that could either keep flight instructing or go get some twin time in the night cargo arena for the same (or more) wages then they were making doing the CFI thing, it cant be beat. but as i also pointed out, there pay is right in line with all the other cargo outfits in the area...all four of em.

Like I said, I didn't know they only paid 800, or even 1000 at the time I applied. If I would've known that (they wouldn't discuss pay, guess they were too embarassed.) I wouldn't have applied. Besides, I was only looking for a part-time gig anyway.
you didnt know what they paid, but you applied anyways? hell, they dont even hire part time guys! do you often go around applying to companies you know nothing about? ...thats a good plan, but it sounds like sour grapes to me ;)

They weren't forthcoming about the pay, but I said that already. Also, I dropped off a resume, and mentioned I was looking for part time work. They didn't say if they did or didn't hire part time when I spoke with them. Doesn't hurt to ask. As I said, if I would've been offered 800/mo, I wouldn't have taken it anyway.

Sour grapes? Not hardly. I wasn't citing GTA as the evil empire, instead that all parasite operators such as this are bad for pilots. That you advocate such a company to new pilots shows your lack of support for those in your field. Hope you aren't in the mentoring business. Though I assume you're like some I have met with the, "I have mine, so screw the rest of you" mentality. I know I'll go out of my way to help a new guy, and at the same time, reinforce the idea that we can't settle for anything less than a living wage, and 1000 a month is not a living wage! Even 1500 a month is crap!

Pilots have spent too much money on training, and carry far too much responsibility to be paid so d*mn little. I don't expect a new guy to be making 30k or so flying a bonanza, but atleast pay him enough to pay his rent and still have money to buy something other than Ramen to eat. Even entry-level work deserves better pay. The guy flying the plane didn't come out of truck driving school you know!

You're really on GTA's sack. Hope they're paying you for it, or are you one of mgmt. here in disguise? :)

You need a refill on that Kool-Aid?

Anyway, it's a waste of time to argue with you. Although you don't advocate PFT (I'm shocked?!?! and relieved.), your idea of a path way for a new guy is scary. Don't listen to him kiddos, cause you're cutting your own throats and those of your peers.

for the record, i am not advocating one of them over the rest. all three (four if you count MRA) are low tier jobs, designed to get you some time and get the hell out. if you would rather keep instructing in a 152 for 800 or less a month, thats fine, have fun. but if you want to get some real experience and make more money, albeit not much, then any of the four cargo operators are definately the way to go. how you cannot see that is beyond me.

yes, by all means dont go get into the night cargo single pilot world, it can do nothing but hurt your career. and with big words like tool, kool aid and now sack, i wonder how i ever made it this far in aviation without an attitude like yours

Didn't say not to fly night cargo, just don't fly for someone who's gonna pay 800 or 1000 a month, and yes, there ARE people out there who will pay better.

Now you're criticizing my vocabulary instead of the argument itself? Just another nerdy pilot type I see...

You're still a tool. Maybe your should negotiate contracts with mgmt? I'm certain the ALPA and Teamsters would welcome your help

you guys crack me up. its such a bad place, but one of you applied there, and didnt get the job, so you decide to bash them. the other one got the job and now that you have a comfy job, feel free to bash them...and yet proudly display the airplanes you flew for them on your profile

pay...the pay starts at 1,000 a month (not 800) and 500 more once you fly the twins, and there are (were!) raises available. texstar pay is the same 1500 to fly their twins. telesis i believe was the same 1500 to start, but had quicker raises. martinaire only pays ~300 more to fly caravans, also at DFW...and we wont even start with first year pay at the regionals ;)

dont get me wrong, none of the 3 piston operators are anything to crow about, and the pay does suck. but, its not a job meant to stay at for any lengthy period of time. do it for awhile, get some twin time and move on. bitch about it if you must, but just remember where you came from...or perhaps where you wanted to come from :D
I know where I "came from" and it wasn't crumy shiholes like GTA AIR. I don't know why you are an advicate for these scam artist, there is nothing good about the place and I would never proudly display anything on my profile that ever set in thier hangar. Honestly it sounds like you still work for them. Are you the old guy that used to work there?

You suck wingnutt. Why don't you go pop some back pills and avoid your wife. You are a miserable old man, with 854 post at flightinfo. You are critizing other peoples profile, when you won't even let people know what you do now. Current position should read under Doug's Scrodum. You are the kind of sarcastic douchepump that acts arrogant, that can't even fly. I have met your type. Stick to your "King Air Rating" and go f yourself.

ooooo...struck a nerve, eh :D
