I switched to the overseas flying gig around 2 years ago, and I love it.

It is not for everyone though. For some it will be a bad move.

For me, I was single and looking for something else. I found it (for now at least).

I'll quit doing this as soon as it doesn't agree with me anymore. Could be in 6 months, could be in 6 years, who knows. But speaking to some buddies @ US carriers and the like, im glad im outa there for now.

Johnny P I think I may know your Dad. You be careful over there.

As far as the money goes, it depends on how you add things. In 2007, my declared income to the IRS was just shy of $90K. This year it should be around $115K. In 2009, if I still have a job, it should be close to $230K, all inclusive. That is with my housing included, and assuming I will upgrade from SO to FO in the next 1.5 years. I include the housing because I have purchased a house here, and it is paid for by the company. I also have three weeks vacation, and have 18 days off per month. The drawbacks are working for an unfriendly management, no real union, pollution, etc. The nice thing is in a few years I can head home with some money in my pocket and take a base close to home. It's not for everyone, but if you treat it the right way, it can be very rewarding. I'm definitely glad I'm not at my last carrier, even though it was a terrific job with great people. Best of luck to all of us, whatever we choose.

So foreign owned non-union carriers are now paying more than US based union carriers......

Rez? PCL128?

Certainly in the case of the European carriers, our plummeting peso-like dollar now makes Euro (also true for Canadian) wages look around 50% "higher" (seen through our American eyes) than a couple years ago; but through American eyes, the cost of living in those countries increased proportionately. Through Canadian and European eyes, not much of a change to their pocketbooks except when they visit here to shop at (to them) firesale prices. I guess in Asia and the Middle East it depends on which country, since some are pegged or almost pegged to the dollar.

The troll speaketh!

I LOVE that movie!
Yet you told all your "boys," that you loved brokeback mountain! Sort of reminded you of yourself!

I love the fact that they made a movie which makes fun of everyone-not a damn soul got offended..... This was in the days before the horrid, crippling philosophy known as "political correctness."
How in the world would some booger picking toothless wonder from asa know about "political corretness?"

Back then, people could laugh at life, could laugh at those things which were funny about themselves and each other. It was nice to be able to take a joke and tell a joke without everyone getting their panties in a bunch.
Most likely they were laughing at how absolutely pathetic your life is and why you're a troll living under a rock! Its kind of fun to laugh at someone as retarded as you because you make it so easy!

-One of the top five best movies ever!

Right after your love story of brokeback mountain!

Later troll!
