I wasn't linking the idea to death camps...those are different from Re-education Camps. I do see what you are getting at, but my point is that you are trying to drive a thumbtack with a sledgehammer. You want to combat a free market force (oversupply) with an guild-enforced socialistic protectionism beginning from Day 1 of a pilot's training. You would end up creating more problems that you would solve, because that force alone does not drive pilot salaries.

I agree with you regarding pay-for-a-job-programs, btw. I think they are a pox on our profession, and still can't believe that anyone would pay for one minute's worth of training past taking their CFI check-ride.

In fact, as far as I'm concerned doing it for SWA is no different than doing it at Gulfstream, and have always thought so. Buying a type in a Boeing? What a joke.....almost as funny as the feeble rationalization that "you can take it anywhere if you don't get the job" (yeah right, a wet-ink 737 type with no time-in-type will get those employers lining up) and "SWA doesn't benefit from the requirement because it receives no money" (although they do enjoy direct economic gain because of the pilot-incurred expense...which is supposedly WAY different). A lot of people waved the BS flag way back when they got the PFT ball-rolling, and its interesting that it's now considered legitimate by many.

Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be a pick-on SWA post, but just pointing out the difficulty in how you are going to choose who will be "accredited" or sanctioned up and above the FAA licensing authorities outside government control in your effort to micromanage supply and demand.

Wasn't this ATA school..the one that just ripped off tons of students.....started and overseen by a retired Delta Captain with connections at ASA? What makes you think that a school like that would not "somehow" get accredited in this imagined guild system, by his buddies who are currently active within it? With your system, I bet a slew of mainline pilot-owned pilot factories would pop practically overnight.... all ALPA-sanctioned and "accredited", of course.

I will back down slightly. Let's do it naturally.

Axe the union entirely, bring wages down to market level and lower the supply that way. Who wants to be an airline pilot making 60k a year max? Nobody. Then the supply will come down. Eventually as the market stabilizes and the supply decreases wages will move back up and stabilize.
