Southwest Airlines Reports December Traffic


DALLAS, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today that the Company flew 3.9 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in December 2002, a 9.7 percent increase from the 3.5 billion RPMs flown in December 2001. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 7.6 percent to 5.9 billion from the December 2001 level of 5.5 billion. The load factor for the month was 66.0 percent, compared to 64.6 percent for the same period last year.

For the fourth quarter 2002, Southwest flew 11.1 billion RPMs, compared to the 10.8 billion RPMs recorded for the same period in 2001, an increase of 2.8 percent. Available seat miles increased 5.2 percent to 17.6 billion from the fourth quarter 2001 level of 16.7 billion. The fourth quarter 2002 load factor was 63.0 percent, compared to 64.5 percent for the same period last year.

For the year ended December 31, 2002, Southwest flew 45.4 billion RPMs, compared to the 44.5 billion RPMs recorded for the same period in 2001, an increase of 2.0 percent. Available seat miles increased 5.5 percent to 68.9 billion from the 2001 level of 65.3 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 65.9 percent, compared to 68.1 percent for the same period last year.

4th Quarter earnings report is due out on Jan 22. The market is expecting a 3 cent per share profit or approx 23 million dollars.

Congrats Slug!

I checked in with LL yesterday and at that point she said the Feb classes weren't confirmed, but it sounds like that's changed!

She also said I should be in the second class (#27 in the pool).

Get those poolee towels ready, some more folks will be drying off soon!
