Per what? You don't think you will have to fight for that check after you are no longer employed at JetBlue. And who exactly will enforce it when you don't get your check. Amazing. They just changed a policy with an email! Are you that naive? When I left my last employer I had to fight over a year to get my so called sick time I never used

There is a way to resolve this and the many other "rules changed by emails" we are subjected to. Send in a card. Tell your friends to send in a card.

There is only so much blame that can be placed on management for their ineptitude. The majority of the blame lies with this pilot group. We allowed this to happen. Had enough? Send in a card! Seriously, what is it going to take for the rest to see the light? Be part of the solution......not the problem!

Are you aware of people not getting paid out after they leave? I haven't heard of that happening here. What does your last employer have to do with anything?

Come on Mike, you're better than this. They really just scared the sh!t out of me making this change within 24hrs. They can do anything they want. What part of that do you not understand? My last job did the same stuff. Like furlough out of seniority. If you were on the 190 and B6 no longer thinks it a viable aircraft. They decide to furlough all of those guys regardless of seniority. Only the union protected us. It took 2 years to grieve it. 2!!! Can you imagine fighting that on you own. Oh wait 3a is proving just that. But if u sent in a card then we re cool

Lemme see if I can do my best Matt Damon "Good Will Hunting" job interview answer

Let's say I bang out for a 4 day, you know one of those productive 17hr 4 days, cause I get the flu. After all I'm 5 redeyes in this month so far so my immune system is shot. After I'm over the flu, bad luck happens. My 6 year old is horsing around with his pals, breaks his arm, knocks out his front teeth. Cause that's what kids do. No problem, I have a 4 day coming up, I'll exercise an emergency call. Oh boy, I'm down to only 2 days left of my 10 before I'm called in for a carpet dance. Well as luck would have it, I commute to JFK (NYC area) which 70% of all B6 do and it happens to be one of the most chronically delayed airport in the country. A snow storm hits a few months later after I got sick. I gave myself 2 options, one was full, the next one mx'd. I'm screwed I saw the storm coming I would have dropped the trip but B6 has a pilot shortage due to people leaving for other carriers, part 117 and higher mins for regional pilots. So I had no choice to try and go in. Well I guess I get a call from the Chief, wants to meet in person to talk about it. Of course it has to be on my day off cause no way they're buying my trip. Now I'm in this little face to face. Chief says "before we talk about why you've missed over 10 days in the last 12 months let me remind you that your NPS score is well below the current average, and you have no LIFT awards." Enough said your performance sucks your fired. I politely say "well you can plan hearing from my lawyer, not ALPA (doh) and the FAA. Long story short, I fight the wrongful termination with my own expenses and the Fed's on my side. But being it the government and B6 involved it takes over 2 years to return to my job. No problem except, during those 2years I don't have health insurance, my son had to have an extra surgery for his arm because of an infection, can't pay that nor my mortgage cause I used every last cent to pay the lawyers to fight my case. Now I'm homeless. All of this because I couldn't go thru the simple grievance process a union would provide. Extreme? Or is that life?

So what do I think? I'm holding out for something better! Like a real airline

Read the new policy a little closer...that one Family Emergency call will prompt a CP Dependability Review of your records. Nice. BTW that is the code they put on your schedule when you call to tell them your wife is in labor. Values my as$$.

If anybody I fly with tries to defend this policy it is going to very hard not to immediately punch them in the face.

The best part is they can demand you go to a doctor but don't have to pay for any testing/diagnostics that would confirm you are sick.

A new low for this company...just when you thought it couldn't get much worse.

Oh my bad. I guess I was still stunned at the 10 days. I hope everyone realizes how bad this is. 12hrs they give? But oh it takes 6 months for them to tell us an IPad is required

I guess their answer for people banging out of 10hr 3 days and 17hr 4 days is this.

Well, good thing I don't give a crap if they fire me. This is just a job, that's it.

And the hiring is about to be ridiculous.

You want jetblue to be a good company, you HAVE to get rid of this management. They are killing this place with crap like this. We had what, 5 or 6 guys give notice today? We have captains leaving to be new hires at United? And they seem intent on pissing everybody off even more. This is BAD. Should NEVER happen. And it's only going to get worse.

It's worse than that. They can demand that you get a doctor's note (with you picking up the tab for any diagnostic tests), but nowhere does it say that the note exonerates you. You're still dinged for the sick call!

I had the unfortunate problem of dealing with a very similar sick policy at my prior airline. The conversation typically went like this:
CS: We are going to need a doctors note for your sick call
Me: my doctors note is on file: It has an expiration date in October and was signed off by the FAA based on my personal safety, and safety of my passengers. If a chief pilot has a problem with that said doctors note/first class medical certificate please have him call me to set up a 4 way conference call with myself, union appointed lawyer, and the FAA. I am looking fwd to the call.
Have a nice day.
CS: um um um....Bye.....click
BTW: I never received a phone call
Granted the conversation now will be a three way call with myself and the FAA to discuss safety related issues. Hopefully our pilot group pulls there head out of there ........es and wakes up very soon to the need for union representation.

On another note: unless I missed the email regarding the fact that we now get sick time I am never sick. I will continue to say I am not reporting for a trip. I will then say if I request the trip be PTO'd or UTO'd. Then I say thank you and hang up. You can't be sick if you don't have a sick time bank for paid sick time to be drawn from. IMO. Good luck to all.

FYI as of current counts 15 guys have resigned since Oct 1, 2013. At 1-4 training cycles per pilot leaving this is an extra 15-45 training cycles. 20% attrition might not be sustainable.
