Are you suggesting that companies should look out for the harm that they will do to the employees of competing companies? Doesn't make any sense. Hawaiian and Aloha should focus on ways of bringing in the customers instead of engaging Mesa in meaningless lawsuits in a desperate attempt to flush them out legally, it just makes them look worse to people who care enough to see what's going on. If Hawaiian and Aloha fail then the system of a capitalist economy has prevailed. If you don't like that move to North Korea.

No. I am saying that JO and company have (on record) proved that they entered the Hawaiian Interisland market with foul intentions (which were against the law). Look at what Judge Farris said during the injunction case Hawaiian filed against Mesa a few months back. Paraphrased he called Murname a liar, and said that Hawaiian had a very good chance of winning a damages case in 2007. Post by post you prove how little you know, or care to know about the subject.

But U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Faris also lashed Mesa with criticism, saying "the evidence raises real doubts about the propriety of Mesa's conduct." Faris levied particularly harsh comments against Mesa's executive vice president and chief financial officer, George Murnane III, calling his "self-contradictory testimony ... profoundly troubling."
Although Faris said Hawaiian failed to meet the onerous requirements needed to get the court order against Mesa, the judge said Hawaiian can pursue the injunction as part of a final judgment in the litigation. Faris also said Mesa likely will be found to have violated a confidentiality agreement at the center of the dispute.
 
....and QOL is through the roof compared to the Mesa disease. Home every night, surf every day, planes on the ground by 8. No campouts. Reserve pay sucks, but with a waterproof case for your cellphone, you are basically getting paid to surf. Fcuk Mesa. Go home.

Uh, actually, I'm pretty sure the Mesa lines in Hawaii are the same, except they're home by 1500. (or start at 1500 and done by 2200)

One overnight at some kick-butt resort, or some I'm told.

Best place to fly in Mesa, but you gotta be independly wealthy or live at a relatives house to make ends meet.

Learn what you are talking about first. You dont know the history, and that's not just MESA I'm talking about. You must be a new little one.

The Mesa pilot union announced that it reached an agreement with management that cuts their pay in half and requires the FO's to clean the lavs. This agreement comes after JO and the management team at Mesa successfully petitioned the FAA to allow trained monkeys to fly their aircraft in revenue service.

Reportedly, test monkeys from an unspecified lab in a foreign country were trained to ATP proficiency and given type ratings on the new 120 seat Canadair Regional Jets. As many as 150 monkeys had passed the test and were slated to be hired into a new all Monkey division of Mesa Airlines called "GO Bananas". Unfortunately negotiations with the Monkey Union hit an impasse when the company refused to provide crew bananas in the contract. A company official said " Hey, bananas are expensive".

When asked for a comment, Captain Peepers the head of AMPA, the Airline Monkey Pilots Association, said "ooohhoooaaaaa!!!eeeeee". He then flung poo at the microphone and ran away.

Mesa to fly in China




A partnership to offer air service among 11 cities is a coup for the owner of go!

Mesa Air Group Inc. -- parent of interisland carrier go! -- will become the first U.S. passenger airline to operate a joint venture to fly in mainland China.

The Phoenix-based carrier will hold a signing ceremony in Beijing today (tomorrow in China) announcing it has signed a joint venture agreement with Shenzhen Airlines to create a Chinese regional airline, the Star-Bulletin has learned.






NEW HORIZONS

Mesa Air Group Inc. and Shenzhen Airlines are teaming up on a joint venture to fly within mainland China.


Partnership: Shenzhen, 51 percent, $32.6 million; Mesa, 49 percent, $31.3 million


Cities served: Shenzhen, Beijing, Chongqing, Xiamen, Nanjing, Kunming, Dalian, Shenyang, Xian, Zhengzhou and Nanning


Start date: Within a year


Aircraft: Twenty 50-seat regional jets prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The fleet is expected to grow to more than 100 planes within five years and comprise a mix of 50-, 70- and 90-seat aircraft.


Founded: Mesa, 1982; Shenzhen, 1992


Employees: Mesa, 5,000; Shenzhen, 6,300


Headquarters: Mesa, Phoenix; Shenzhen, Shenzhen, in southern China's Guangdong province
The new airline, whose name is still being finalized, will operate 50-seat regional jets within mainland China to Shenzhen, Beijing, Chongqing, Xiamen, Nanjing, Kunming, Dalian, Shenyang, Xian, Zhengzhou and Nanning.

Service is expected to begin within 12 months, with 20 jets to be in operation before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The fleet is expected to grow to more than 100 planes within five years and be comprised of 50-, 70- and 90-seat aircraft. The type of aircraft that will be used is still being determined.

The historic deal represents a big coup for Mesa, which, like other U.S. carriers, has been seeking to gain a foothold in a Chinese market that has a population of 1.2 billion. China also has relatively few regional carriers, with only about 70 planes in service.

Mesa previously had said it was seeking to operate a regional airline in China, and reported last month on a conference call that it was closing in on a deal. Jonathan Ornstein, chairman and chief executive of Mesa, was traveling in China yesterday and could not be reached for comment.

Shenzhen will invest $32.6 million for 51 percent of the venture while Mesa will invest $31.3 million for a 49 percent stake, Bloomberg News reported today, citing the 21st Century Business Herald, a Chinese-language publication.

While Mesa will be the first U.S. airline to jointly conduct passenger service within China, it will not be the first American-based carrier to operate there. United Parcel Service and FedEx both fly commercial operations within the country.

Mesa, which began service in Hawaii in June, operates four 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-200s between the islands.

Overall, Mesa operates 199 aircraft with more than 1,300 daily flights to 173 cities, 43 states, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. It has contractual agreements to operate as America West Express, Delta Connection, US Airways Express and United Express.

Mesa will end 2006 with more than $1.3 billion in revenue. It carried more than 14 million passengers through the first 11 months of this year.

Shenzhen operates 45 A320 and B737 aircraft on 100 routes within mainland China and Southeast Asia. The carrier has flown 5.3 million passengers this year.

Aloha just made the calls for a pilot class in January. This includes a mesa/go! pilot. Aloha also hired a Mesa/go! pilot in November. According to the guy we hired in November, the go! schedules have gotten pretty brutal since they are severely understaffed. Although there could be other perks - such as a good crew hotel.
 
Well, there can't be two losers.

From this article in the Honolulu Advertiser, it is pretty easy to deduce that go! is spending about 3 million monthly on operational costs and earning about 2 million in revenue. (This doesn't include start-up and legal-fee costs by the way). There is one important part of the "low cost model" that Mesa left out in Hawaii - the "low cost". They have the highest cost of any airline operating in Hawaii.

As an investor, I think I would like to see more than $2 come back to me for every $3 I spend. Time to launch operation China! Shift the attention, shift the blame.
