Does any body have any insider info into getting hired at AirTran?
I have 3 good recommendation letters, 400plus hours, 1000 121 jet PIC. no violations and my applications been in for some two months now, I getting concerned because my airlines about to turn into a big dark hole?

Any real help would be appreciated

ICU,

Go to one of the Air Inc Job fairs... I sent hundreds of resumes to AT over the last 3 years, had AT pilots walk them in, and nothing. Went to a job fair and talked to them and was called for an interview about 3-4 weeks later.....

Good luck!

2 months?? Are you kidding me? It took me 6 years to get a call from FedEx.

Good gouge for all of you guys trying to get on with another airline. Get your stuff out there ASAP!! After you finish your IOE with a 121 operator or whatever you are flying I would start applying. Who cares if you are not qualified. It shows you are interested and have been for a LONG time.

Good luck to all of you!!

FedExFlyer,

HUH? Where did you see 2 months and BE1900 f/o in any of the above posts? You may have responded to the wrong thread...

TV9...ICU said his app has been in for two months. And I think, though I could be wrong, that he was using the BE1900 f/o as as example of one, though not currently qualified, that should get the app in and keep updating it. I don't think he was saying ICU was a BE1900 dude.

Walden & TY-

Yes --- You are both correct. I took out the B-1900 reference since it may have been taken out of context. I guess 2/3 can't be wrong.

I was just saying for all of you guys who are flying right seat in anything to put your stuff in with the big guys right away and update, update, update!!!

Ty,

Here there, old man. I see you've gone from rock icons (Zappa) to country "stars" in your avatars. I'm very disappointed in you....:p

Get with it, man...

Dwight is a (dark) icon in his own right. He was the "bad boy" that no one in Nashvegas would play. . . . give a listen to "Streets of Bakersfield" or "Honkey-tonk Man". . . .

How about Hank, Jr.? Cool enough? Can I get a ruling, here?

Well, I even was gonna give a nod of appreciation to Dwight in my previous post, but thought it would defeat the purpose. I would take him over Hank, Jr., though.

But still....;)

I'm just sayin'.

(I gotta be careful. FL717 might pop up with a photo of Rob Halford as his avatar... :p )

My vote is for Hank Jr. Maybe your caption could read "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound," or "If Heaven Aint a Lot Like Dixie I Dont Wanna Go." or my favorite "If the South Would Have Won, We'd Have it Made."

If that not redneck enongh, you could always go with David Alan Coe on your avatar. I dont think Nashvegas will play him either.

Or . . . "If heaven's a lot like [Taxiway] Dixie . . . I'd just as soon hold short . . .".

Here is what I have heard. There is supposidly three piles you want your resume in. One for letters of rec that have been walked in, one from resume's sent in via the AirTran web page, and then one from Air Inc. seminars. I have also heard that they hire about 70% from Air Inc. seminars. Get your resume in all three and get some face time at an Air Inc seminar. That is exactly what I did and it was 1 1/2 months for the call for an interview from when my resume was walked in (I got the call just under two weeks from when I attended the Air Inc. seminar), and then another month for a ground school date. Total, 4 months from the first resume until ground school......Hope this helps, good luck..

[hijack]Sorry, but I'd have to vote for Hank III over Hank jr. Though Col. JD Wilkes would be my first pick.[/hijack]

My vote goes to Waylon Jennings..........If nothing else, he will always be remembered for "The Dukes" theme. Dam, em' r sum good ol' boys.

Missed opportunity

Its ashame that Airtran only looks at 121 and military time. That an pilot with 500 hr of KingAir 1900 time is more qualified than a pilot with jet time flying as a 135 operator. I've had Airtran pilot's walk my resume in, to which I'm truely greatful and been told that even with 20 years military (enlisted P3/FE) and 2800 jet, 1900 capt . /PIC jet that I'm not qualified. Go figure.

p3hawk,
Could you expound a little on your last post? Are you saying that a KingAir pilot with 500 hrs is more qualified than you as a 2800TT and 1900 PIC jet time, at least in the eyes of AirTran?
I'm not really sure I understand. I'm thin as a post and twice as thick.

AirTran's mins include 500 hours Part 121 PIC or Military Equivalent. Basically if someone has 10000 hours and none of it falls under the 121 PIC/Mil Equiv requirements then they aren't qualified. Might not be the best way to do it, but that's how it's being done.

It is a good movie. I especially like the part where he gives the dude a swirlie but he thinks it's his friend Virgil. Good stuff.
P3 engineer? Ever make it out to Midway for Pony Express?
