Had my first deadheading experience on GJ and have some questions for anyone who knows. Why do so many GJ pilots and flight attendents have the round orange United mainline bag tags? The first guy I saw I thought may have been a UA furlough but then every other pilot and FA I saw had them also. Are they company issue? Do they know something I don't or did someone lie to them in indoc about who it is they work for?
Also, when the FA does her preflight announcement, why does he/she say "proud to be the only regional carrier with first class and ExPlus seating"? I thought the first time it was just her adding her own piece of verbal flare but then I heard the same thing by a different FA on another flight. It's obviously not true so what gives? More indoc lies? Company cool aid drinkers? Self praise to make them feel good? Seems kind of dumb to blatently lie to the pax, even if it is over something so small. I'm sure some of them know better.

Look a little closer next time. The tags are United Express tags and yes they are company issue.
As far as I know Gojet was the first to have 1st Class, economy plus, and economy seats. If someother carriers have it as well, it needs to be updated.

One of TSA's FOs recounted a story from when he went through FFDO training. Day one and their doing the intros and this guy says he's "with United". Only the FO knows the guy. He was a prior Capt from TSA (very junior RIC ex Navy P-3/helo guy) who defected to GoJet.

A group of the pilots are aware of this guy passing himself off as such so a mainline Northwest Capt asks the guy," so how are things going over at UAL?"

Blowjet dude: "huh?"

Mainline CPT: You said you worked for United Air Lines, UAL, right?"

Tool: "Uhh, United express. Gojet actually."

Yeah, their proud all right.

Other United Express carriers were doing this before GoJets existed.

I also heard the G0Jet guy at FFDO training always sat behind the bus driver when going to and from class. This must of been his comfort zone just like it was back in grade school. I guess he was afraid of being beat up if he tried to sit in the back. what a tool!

If it pissed you off so much, perhaps you should get a free ride from someone else.

I understand your curiousity, but the last third of your post made you sound like an ingrateful jerk.

sqwkvfr,
You haven't a clue what you're talking about! He was DEADHEADING dummy!!
That's not a free ride - UAL forgoes the revenue on that seat, GoJets doesn't offer it out of the goodness of their hearts!
By the way, don't we have 1st class and ExPlus on the E170? mmmmmm, doesn't Skywest have 1st and ExPlus on their CR7s?? Maybe one of the TWA scabs that I saw at Dulles the other day (driving a GoJets plane) told the FA what to say.
The little things can make all the difference.

Thanks. Does that mean that it's reduced rate or not?

GoJets gets paid the same whether the seat is occupied or not! Fee for departure.

Ok that explains it, I didn't look close enough at the tags. As for the first and ExPlus I didn't know that they had them before Mesa, Skywest or Shuttle. They really need to update that FA brief if it's that old. Thanks, that is all.

Sqwkvfr,
Yes, it was company forced travel, not leisure travel. No I wasn't pissed. If something that small pissed me off, I'd be on an assortment of blood pressure meds just to keep a medical.

The FA was probably referring to United Express being the only regional carrier, not GoJet. Unfortunately, most passengers don't realize they are travelling on a contract carrier, they only know they flew United Express [or whoever].

No on my one GOOOOOJET flight I was ABLE to get on they said GoJets in the announcement etc., etc., the first thing that did come to my mind was the Skywest Aeroplanes.

Deadheading: The company is making you go on this, as part of your job schedule. It is not by the pilot's choice, and it is not in any way at all a "favor". It is the law of the company being enforced. It is irrelevant if there is any cost involved.

Non-reving: This is where the pilots say "I want to go home now, will you please give me a ride." Non-rev seats are by courtesey and "please" and "thank you" now count for something.

Not true, people know the difference between the 50 seat jet, 70 seat crj and da mighty 170:D

Everybody loves the 170! It's a better product than the crj700 and the mickey mouse 50 seat jet.

Sorry to brake it to ya

That stellar GoJet FFDO wouldn't be BG would it?!

Kinda funny that he sat in the FRONT of the bus......when his airline is sooo BACK of da bus.......

Hey did you hear about the GoJet guy who went to FFDO training and managed to shoot him self in the foot!!

Have you ever contributed anything worthwhile to any discussion you've ever had in your life?

Would this be a dark skinned guy....? Flew with him at TSA what a shame!!
Cheers,
Stinker

I flew with him too. He was a sucky pilot which means he'll fit right in at Go Jet.

Oh, thanks. I guess I'll never be elected to office in the "Flightinfo 'Regionals' Forum" after that gaff, huh?

My apologies to Carbon.

Even if you dont know what deadheading is why in the world would you defend GOJET? If you are planning on starting a career in this industry now would be a good time to learn who the snakes are....

I will agree the 170 is more comfortable for the passangers than any other RJ out there, but the pay scales are emabarssing and you know it. Maybe you work for pax comfort but most of us work for the mighty $$.

I've never been in a 170, but a 152 is more comfortable than a CRJ.

As a passenger, that is.

STFU.....you obviously don't understand sh1t about this industry yet. These boneheads are scum. Period. They are so proud of themselves that they hide their IDs, are embarassed about who they work for, and when they realize that the other crew in the hotel van realizes who they are, they curl up into the corner and hide their faces in an attempt to "climb into the box and hide".

If you wish to defend these idiots, maybe they should be your first choice when applying for a job. You'd fit in just fine with them....you open your mouth and sh1t comes out, just like they do.

Until you come into this industry and understand it more, your comments are NOT welcome. Questions are welcome.....just like the Feds, we're here to help. Here's a suggestion for the future in order to stop yourself from looking like an idiot....."Hey, what's deadheading?", "What do you mean by Kool-Aid?", "Why do so many people have so many negative things to say about them?"

People here (the real people, not the idiots) will bend over backwards here to help you if you ask. Offer unjust comments with nothing to back it up, and you're just painting a bullseye on your forehead. Nothing in life like having a shotgun mouth and a BB gun ass.

Hey EMB170Pilot,

At least the 'mickey mouse' CRJ never had the nickname 'emb 180'. You haven't been in the business long enough to remember that.
