I suppose it is a little different in a 91 operation where there is not regulation protection. 17 hours is a long time to sit around though. I think I would make it clear one way or another that these kind of situations would not be tolerated. After a couple of times, I would just go check into the nearest hotel. If he shows up, who is going to fly him home. After once or twice he would get the picture. Besides, I don't need a "careless and reckless" violation because of this clown. You know these guys would get one too when the facts came out if they plowed it in after take-off cause they hit some birds or something.
That is why I like boxes, they don't complain and I don't need a "thank you".
Sitting around on the FBO couch is NOT rest, nor is it even close to being so...
