Except for one problem. Some of these anti-union tools at Skywest think that it is all about them. What team? Me me me mine....

Which is why I bring up that you don't necessarily have to join ALPA even if the drive is successful. I'm not 100% sure of this but I do know that Utah is a right to work state so it may apply to all pilots at Skywest.

Is it hypocritical to apply for, interview for, train for, and perform a job for a carrier that is not unionized and then piss and moan that we're not union?

Not when management makes so many promises and never delivers. Our shelf life as pilots is limited with age, health, etc. When one invests years with a company it is expected that the company will uphold their part of the deal. A large chunk of my career is now history. I cannot get that back. The best I can do is to try to protect what pay/QOL management/SAPA continue to chip away at year after year. If this drive does not pass I will cut my losses and try to move on to a unionized carrier where I will have some legal representation. Maybe I should not have taken management for their word years ago. I could have been accumulating seniority somewhere else. Does that sound hypocritical to you?

no. best of luck with your path.

how many years have you been at SkyWest? do you feel that those years would have been better spent (more total dollars earned, better seniority, QOL, etc.) at ASA, Comair, Pinnacle, etc? why or why not?

I hear what you are saying and I understand. One thing people need to keep in mind is that management looks out for the shareholders first. That is what they are supposed to do and get paid to do. A union is the only organization who looks out for their members first. That is what people need to understand when deciding where to work.
