Faster upgrade at VA. They STILL haven't broken ground with revenue pax on board. What will the pay be in 5 or 10 years?

Frontier's not the strongest balance sheet in the business. You may find yourself at the bottom of the list with a merger/acquisition in progress. Good luck.TC
 
Not in business in 10 years or Terrible work rules

Frontier is a good company to work for but I have serious doubts about their business plan. Most people that work there are nervous about where there jobs will be in 5 years. Mx Costs, Staffing Costs, and increased competition (SWA and United)(also, the D Concourse is being built / C expanded = more room in DEN for competition), alcoholic CEO, Lynx, E170's being used vs. more efficient CRJ's. It's a great company to work for though... at this point. Denver isn't for everyone though


Virgin America = Terrible work rules, not great pay, but will probably be around for awhile with so much "in the family" backing. When you upgrade, back to 1st year pay. San Frans a great place (expensive though). They're not upgrading people by seniority currently.

Personally, I wouldn't touch either place. Frontier's a better company with a shakey future. If I had no other choice, I'd go there and pray for a Jet Blue Merger.

Yawn ....... The word from United and Delta is that the E170 is burning LESS fuel than the CR7, but the pax do love the CRJ more ............

heck I will bite, why go to either? There is no way in he11 I would go to va or skybus or any other startup airline in this day in age. As for F9, you really can't lose with regard to the pilot group, a seriously great bunch. Unfortunately, they don't run the place and the financials speak for themselves. We have a handful of deliveries left, so any new hire will be on reserve for a while. With the new world order in crew scheduling (new contract and a manager from comair), reserves are part of the staffing equation so plan on flying your arse off and getting to know SLC and OMA intimately. F9's stock price is at a 52 week low and we own a few narrow bodies that are in high demand. I fear that a merger is the least of our worries. Just an honest answer to a less than genuine question.

That't not what I heard. I heard that supposedly DL removed the E170 flights to and from SLC because they never did get what was advertised with regard to fuel burn. They decided to put them on mostly shorter routes to compete with Airtran instead. Yes, there are still a few long routes (like ATL--to Kingston, Jamaica--with no competition), but overall they now do shorter routes. And, close your mouth when you yawn.

StaySeated – totally off the subject but regarding your avatar. Wounded Warrior Project is an awesome organization – for those who are not aware of it – it makes me proud to be an American (albeit a new one and not by birth).

It is our primary charity we give to and it just feels great to help out our heroes. Anyways, sorry for getting off the subject but I think it’s a great organization – that’s all!

What are you smoking? They have essentially the same engines and the 170 is a lot heavier. It's basic aerodynamics. The 170 is 3-5% more expensive to operate but you're right; they are much more comfortable. I sincerely wish that the flying public would be willing to pay $9.99 more for a ticket to fly on one but you know as well as I that they'll jump ship to save money.

G.L. You're right. When they first started flying these routes, they weren't flown efficiently. After learning (with more experience with a new a/c) how the plane performs, they are flown much more efficient now. Unfortunately, the precedent was set with the beginning numbers. You're info is based on old data.
 
I believe RAH's 170s flying for Frontier have more than 70 seats in them (72-76?). The extra revenue should more than offset a higher fuel burn.

I hope you're right....They do need to be squashed before they even start....
Problem is, SIR Richard Branson has deeeeeeeep pockets, and can run this pig at a loss just put a hurting even more so on the us carriers.....<sigh>

Ever heard of "Virgin Cola?" Me neither until I saw a list of some of SIR Branson's flops. Hopefully VA will be another.
 
"Virgin Cola" sounds like a sure hit to me, it just goes to show how things never happen the way you'd like.

I get such a kick from the latch-key, lanyard-donging, so-called avaition professionals who think they have crystal balls.....and no, there aren't any mispellings in my post.

Frontier is not a 'start-up', not a 'flash-in-the-pants', not an airline anywhere close to the brink of collapse. DON'T use stock price as an indicator of squat .... Midwest Express is conning the market at +$15.00/share!

You want the truth? This whole industry is a big crap shoot. You gotta be man enough to bet big if you wanna win big. I heard plenty of sparky hot shots tell me F9 was a "lateral move" from Air Wisconsin about six years ago. Every new hire is told they will be on reserve and never see Captain by the naysayers.....then, miraculously, they get off reserve and make Captain inside of 5 years (try that at Southwest Fedex United...yeah whatever). My point is, if you can't take a gut check once in your career you will always be mediocre at best.
I really see too many young pups who will never figure it out...it's not about the money, fame or 'da ladies'.
It's about flying, at least for most aviators.
